A Different Easter Celebration– Jesus With A Whip

In the eyes of Justice,  there are three basic types of people…..  Producers,  Predators,  and Protectors.  Producers and Predators are at polar opposites of good and evil.  Producers are makers;  Predators are takers.  And there are two basic types of violence,  also at polar opposites…..  Predatory violence is evil and wrong,  while Protective violence is good and right.  The Protectors have the moral right and duty to stop or destroy the Predators,  who are attacking or enslaving the Producers.  Producers have no hope without Protectors,  and God should be the ultimate Protector…..  but sadly He is not.   —  Original to this work

This year,  prior to Easter,  I read the new book  “Killing Jesus”  by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard.  I was hoping for a fresh perspective on the subject,  and this book delivered.  It was  full of historical facts about all the political and religious forces focusing upon Israel at the time of Jesus,  and for the decades leading up to it.  Disastrous events in the Roman Empire,  decades before Jesus was born,  pushed the Roman Empire toward less freedom,  less tolerance,  and more cruelty.  For example,  about 70 years before Jesus,  seven thousand slaves of Rome,  who rebelled and fought the Roman legions under a slave killingJesus-3dleader named Spartacus,  were defeated and were crucified along a 240-mile stretch of road between Rome and Naples.  This works out to a roadside corpse rotting on a cross every 180 feet,  for 240 miles,  if they were evenly spaced…. a ghastly view and stench for travelers on the busy road.  These were seven thousand grisly billboards screaming:  “this is what happens to you when you make trouble in Rome”.  For another example,  in 45 B.C.  the victory of the war criminal Julius Caesar,  against the Republican forces of Rome,  in a civil war that spanned from Egypt to Spain to Syria,  passing through Israel,  pushed the Roman Empire into a vicious mode of tyranny for centuries.  Caesar himself was murdered in the Senate by sixty senators with daggers,  which sparked a new civil war for control of Rome.  These trends of Roman tyranny and violence had a huge effect on Israel before,  during,  and after the life of Jesus.  Anyone who did not bow low to Roman rule,  and who did not submit completely to their evil tyranny,  was simply killed.

I have often wished that the true meaning of  Easter was more widely known than the Easter Bunny,  more than the finding of Easter Eggs by our young children,  more than Going To Church for once a year.  I have wished that Easter was even more than celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus.  Easter is indeed the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus,  three days after he was horribly crucified by the Jewish and Roman authorities of his time,  the evil tyrants of his time.  But that is not enough.  I have often wished that Easter was the celebration of the victory of  Truth,  Love,  Knowledge, and JUSTICE,  against the forces of evil who killed the Son of God that was brought before them,  in complete innocence and benevolence,  having done nothing wrong,  and having done everything right.  But JUSTICE is left out of the mix,  as it seems to be delayed or deferred in all religions.  After the resurrection of Jesus,  the stifling oppression of his beloved Israel by the Romans continued,  with no relief or justice for the Jewish people,  no stopping of their evil Jewish leaders,  and no stopping of the heavy Roman oppression.   A mere 40 years after Jesus was killed,  the Temple was destroyed and over a million Jews killed in the revolt known as the First Jewish-Roman War  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Jewish-Roman_War.

Jesus must have had some idea of this coming great tragedy,  or of its possibility.  Indeed, he predicted the destroying of the great temple specifically to his disciples (Matthew 24:1-2,  Mark 13:1-2),  but he did not give the timing of the destruction.  Part of his mission may have been to avoid the crushing of the Jewish people by Rome,  by quelling their rebellious spirit and spreading a philosophy of love and peace.  If enough Jews had followed his teachings of love and peace,  the rebellion would not have happened.  Remember that he told them to  render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s,  and render unto God what is God’s.

Jesus did not prevent the crushing of the Jewish people.  But,  against all odds,  with incredible self-control while bleeding to death on an evil wooden instrument of torture,  Jesus did complete his divine mission,  to allow himself to be killed by his enemies.  He could have kept anyone from hurting him,  or he could have escaped,  and the temptation was great.  Shortly before his arrest,  he fervently prayed to be spared,  if it could be God’s will.  But then he allowed himself to be severely flogged,  tortured,  ridiculed and crucified.  This willful sacrifice required more spiritual discipline and power than any other religious figure in history.

Mohammed was a coward by comparison,  because Mohammed fled for his life from Mecca to Medina,  where he built up enough physical power  (followers and weapons)  to kill those who disagreed with him.  His vengeful wars of Jihad  and murders of his perceived enemies  (including entire Jewish communities)  have poisoned Islam to this day.  Mohammed also incorporated the cowardly crimes of kidnapping and ransom into the Muslim religion,  giving the present-day Muslim pirates of Somalia a sacred sanction for their cowardly piracy.  Mohammed’s crimes also give sanction to the Boko Haram jihadists of Nigeria,  who kidnapped over 300 girls from schools  to condemn the education of girls,  and who have exterminated entire villages that do not support them.  Mohammed did the same type of thing,  and he would be proud of their fierce Jihad,  complete with intimidation,  theft,  murder, kidnapping,  torture,  extermination of infidels,  looting,  and selling girls into slavery. Mohammed would be even more proud of ISIS,  the “Islamic State of Iraq and Syria”,  the most brutal and barbaric Muslim tyranny since Mohammed himself.  They are trying to bring back the religious tyranny of the  “caliphate”,  which was last defeated when the expansion of the Ottoman Empire of Turkey was stopped at the Battle of Vienna in Austria in 1683.  Muslim tyrants are a constant threat to freedom on Planet Earth,  thanks to the religious terrorist known as Mohammed.  He should be no one’s hero or prophet.  As for the religion he started,  it was an exclusive  (instead of inclusive)  religion of bigotry,  sexual abuse,  oppression,  slavery and murder,  that calls for killing or enslaving those who will not accept it.  Christianity has done killing and torture in the past,  to its great shame and dishonor.  Christianity as a whole stopped doing this centuries ago,  and became more inclusive and peaceful.  But in all its bloody crusades and inquisitions,  Christianity could not point to its founder,  Jesus,  as a murderer and tyrant.  Murderous Muslims,  on the other hand,  need only read the Koran,  the Hadith,  and other accounts of Mohammed’s many criminal exploits,  to find support for their own crimes today.  In great contrast to Mohammed,  Jesus allowed himself to be killed,  instead of killing others.

Other people have a different,  biased,  uninformed,  uneducated view of Mohammed,  and sadly,  our current president is among them.  This is no surprise,  because he was taken to mosques as a boy in Indonesia,  as a senator he said that the Muslim call to prayer is  “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth”  (I call it chilling and foreboding),  and  he recently had a private meeting with Muslim leaders in the White House,  and a number of other reasons.  Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim sympathizer with a Muslim middle name,  with policies that have advanced the aggressive spread of Islam extremism in the US and all over the world,  at the expense of every other religion,  and at the expense of freedom.  From his bowing low to the king of Saudi Arabia while snubbing the queen of England,  to his fanciful pro-Muslim speech in Cairo in 2009,  to his failure to oppose the Muslim Brotherhood taking over Egypt when the  “Arab Spring”  backfired,  to his failure to condemn the plans for a mosque near ground-zero in New York,  to his absurd orders for NASA to conduct an outreach program to Muslim countries,  http://michellemalkin.com/2010/07/06/the-left-stuff-nasas-muslim-outreach/ ,  to his hostility toward Israel,  his bias for Islam is obvious.  His double standard concerning Islam is also obvious.  He proclaims that the terrorists of ISIS are not part of Islam,  but he is quick to remind us that the Crusaders of the middle ages were Christian aggressors.  Concerning Mohammed,  he made this statement in 2012 in a speech to the UN :

Obama supports MohammedIn that same speech,  Obama went on to say  “It is time to heed the words of Gandhi:  ‘Intolerance is itself a form of violence'”.  But unlike Gandhi,  Mohammed was both intolerant and violent,  to everyone who did not accept and follow his new religion.  His words and writings in the Koran and Hadith are extremely intolerant,  bristling with severe punishment for unbelievers and sinners.  Obama obviously would not agree with my assessment of the  “prophet of Islam”,  who I have just  “slandered”,  by telling the truth of his life.  Obama has yet again made a fool of himself with recent statements at the 2015 National Prayer Breakfast.  He sees no basic difference between Christianity and Islam,  no basic difference between Jesus and Mohammed.  In choosing to defend Mohammed,  he has chosen to defend a murderer.  I do not know exactly what  “slander”  he means,  but if Obama is referring to accounts of Mohammed ambushing merchant caravans and killing the merchants,  leading wars against Jewish communities and wiping them out,  taking hostages and slaves,  demanding ransom,  beheading captives,  oppressing women  and making non-Muslims pay a tax…..  then that is not  “slander”,  it is historical fact that is easily accessed.  Obama yet again fails to recognize the difference between good and evil,  and that is the fundamental error of his entire life.

At the 2015 National Prayer Breakfast,  Obama tried to equate the current evil of ISIS with the Christian crusades many centuries ago.  This is absolutely false.  There are fundamental differences between these campaigns.  One crucial difference is that the Christian crusades were a response to the brutal attacks of the Muslim empire for hundreds of years,  murdering Christians and Jews, expanding their empire from Arabia to conquer Jerusalem,  Northern Africa,  and Spain.  After Christian Spain was conquered,  the Muslims called it the Caliphate of Cordoba,  which existed from the years 929 to 1031.  There was an epic movie,  “El Cid”,  starring Charlton Heston,  which memorialized the war to regain Spain.  The Muslims fought over 200 battles in Spain.  The Muslims had no inherent right to conquer Spain,  just as ISIS has no inherent right to conquer Iraq.  Then and now,  when Muslims conquer a territory,  they loot the wealth of the people,  they destroy Christian churches or convert them to mosques,  they allow no new churches of other faiths to be built,  and they kill or persecute Christians and Jews.  As a footnote here,  Hindus,  Buddhists,  Bahai,  Zoroastrians and other believers suffered an even worse fate,  because they were not  “people of the book”,  as the Koran called Christians and Jews.  The Christian crusades were the necessary response to Muslim aggression in the Middle East,  and apart from the crusades,  Christian Europe had to fight a separate war to take Spain back from the invading Muslims.

For those who lack historical knowledge of this issue of Jihad vs. Crusades,  which boils down to Mohammed vs. Jesus,  here is an excellent short video pinpointing all the known battles,  and the heavy,  constant assault of Muslim aggression against Judeo / Greco / Christian civilization :

The video plots 548 battles that the Muslims fought to spread their empire into areas of mostly European culture (remnants of the Greek and Roman empires,  which evolved into the European countries we know today). This video makes clear the constant aggressive nature of Islam since its deadly beginning with the prophet Mohammed.  Even some moderate Muslims may be shocked to see how fast and far the red dots spread,  and every red dot represents massive murder,  torture,  rape,  pillaging,  burning,  looting,  and taking of slaves.  The great majority of the red dots are in Europe,  not in the Middle East or Africa.  As the video explains,  the Muslim naval forces were key in this constant assault on Europe,  attacking coastal towns,  killing untold millions,  and  taking over a million unfortunate captives back with them to their Islamic countries,  to serve as slaves.  When the European kingdoms were weakened enough by these naval raids,  the ships returned in greater numbers,  carrying Muslim armies to attack inland,  and to expand the Muslim empire by the sword of Jihad.  By the year 1320,  they had swallowed up all of the Middle East,  North Africa,  much of India,  Spain,  and the European coast of the Mediterranean Sea.  The only place they suffered permanent rollbacks was in Europe,  and that was in conjunction with the temporary rollback of the Crusades,  a defensive action against the relentless Muslim aggression.  The actual Crusades,  where Christian armies traveled to the Middle East to repel Muslims from the Christian Holy Lands,  numbered less than 20 battles.  These few battles were in response to the hundreds of Muslim attacks on Christian lands.  Europe was shocked and saddened that the homeland of Jesus was conquered by this new violent religion of Mohammed,  and fought enough  “Crusade”  battles to take Jerusalem back and restore it to Christianity,  but they soon lost it again to a new Muslim onslaught.

Islam is spread primarily by the sword,  and every country taken by Islam enforces Sharia law,  the law of Mohammed,  which gives unbelievers 3 choices :  convert to Islam,  pay the jizya taxes and be treated like a lower-class subject,  or be killed.  Every country taken by Islam was following its own pre-existing religion,  whether  Christian,  Jewish,  Hindu,  Buddhist, or other,  which was then banned or severely oppressed by the Muslim tyrants.  Some Muslim countries at certain times treat non-Muslims better,  but there is always the danger of fundamentalist Muslims gaining control and returning to oppressive measures,  as has happened in Iran,  Iraq,  Egypt,  Syria  and Libya.

So the original criminals,  the Muslims,  were the same then and now,  attacking and  forcing others to defend themselves,  and our current president refuses to see this truth about Muslims.  But then,  our current president has proven himself to be a fool and a liar many times.  He is not worthy of any more attention in this article,  but his statements were relevant and timely to this article.  Catholic leaders have asked that Obama apologize for his statements,  as well he should.  Contrary to the president’s statement,  the future MUST belong to those who ‘slander’ and condemn the prophet of Islam,  who tell the truth about his criminal exploits,  or else we will all be subjected to religious slavery.  Christians do not seek to enslave people,  but Mohammed did,  and modern radical Muslims do,  and they are a growing part of the Muslim religion.  Jesus walked into danger and killed no one,  but Mohammed killed and enslaved many.  Jesus preached peace,  but Mohammed preached war in the form of religious Jihad.  Mohammed is the role model for ISIS,  Al Qaeda,  Boko Haram,  the Taliban and all the other Islamic terrorists.  They are simply following Mohammed’s own personal actions and words.  That is the simple truth that anyone should see,  including Obama,  and the pathetic ignorant people who share his views.

The Basic Differences between Muslims and Christians

First of all,  most Muslims and Christians are very similar.  They are peaceful,  loving,  hard-working,  law-abiding citizens of their societies.  But when a person wants to be prejudiced,  hateful,  abusive,  dominating….. in a word,  predatory…..  the founder and doctrines of Islam give that person a lot more to work with than Christianity.  There are groups of peaceful Muslims who insist that the Koran is being misinterpreted and misconstrued to get violent meaning out of it,  but the violent history of Islam for 1400 years says there are hordes of Muslims who disagree with the peaceful groups.  Peaceful Muslims did not produce the 548 red dots of battle and conquest in the video above.  Peaceful Muslims are not persecuting Christians all over the Middle East, which is happening right now.  Today,  there are sermons being preached in mosques all over the world,  urging prejudice,  hatred,  and violence toward Jews and Christians.  The members of all the Islamic terrorist groups,  considering themselves to be good Muslims,  go to mosque services every week,  and we can be sure that their Imams are not preaching messages of peace,  love,  and tolerance.  I challenge the peaceful Muslims to show us another religion that has a more violent history than Islam,  from the days of its founder to the killing fields of ISIS today.  Islam is a religion with a continuously violent history and violent doctrines.  Peaceful Muslims can choose to be peaceful in spite of these doctrines,  but that does make Islam a peaceful religion.

Here is a central fact to consider when comparing Muslims and Christians :  Muslims,  regardless of their personal views,  are following the religion of a violent killer,  Mohammed,  who said to enslave or kill unbelievers.  Christians,  regardless of their personal views,  are following the religion of a peaceful martyr,  Jesus,  who allowed himself to be killed to teach the world a lesson of peace,  who said to be forgiving and tolerant of unbelievers.

Here is another central fact :  There are a lot of violent people in the world.  According to studies by Dr. Martha Stout,  4% of the people in America are sociopaths,  which means they have no moral conscience and are prone to violence.  The rest of the world probably has a similar percentage of sociopaths and psychopaths,  if not more.

So it does not take a genius to figure out which religion the violent sociopaths,  psychopaths and criminals of the world will choose,  if they want to participate in a religion.  They will most likely become Muslims,  and they will imitate the violent behavior of the founder,  Mohammed.  We are seeing this unfold before our eyes,  as foreign fighters flock to Syria,  to fight in the monstrous Jihad  of the Muslim group ISIS.  Or if they do not want go to Syria,  they can kill and behead infidels right in their hometown,  whether it be Paris,  New York,  Copenhagen or Sydney,  and make world headlines.  We have the prophet Mohammed to thank for all of this horrific Muslim violence.  He made Islam a religion of oppression and violence,  and peaceful Muslims are peaceful in spite of Mohammed’s teachings and law,  not because of them.  The  “Prophet of Islam”,  who Obama says we must not slander,  was the Prophet of Killing and Oppression.  By contrast,  Jesus was the Prophet of Love,  Forgiveness and Self-Sacrifice.

Another crucial fact to consider when comparing Mohammed and Jesus concerns the issue of telling lies.  There are a lot of Muslim writings that permit,  or even encourage lying:  http://wikiislam.net/wiki/Lying_and_Deception_in_Islam   Muslims are allowed to lie to unbelievers in order to defeat them.  A Muslim who follows this doctrine feels no guilt in lying to non-Muslims.  They are only obligated to tell the truth to fellow Muslims.  The two forms of lying are:  Taqiyya – Saying something that isn’t true,  and  Kitman – Lying by omission.  An example would be when Muslim apologists quote only a fragment of verse 5:32 (that if anyone kills “it shall be as if he had killed all mankind”) while neglecting to mention that the rest of the verse,  and the next verse,  mandate killing in undefined cases of  “corruption.”

To my great disgust,  on the TV news,  on February 18, 2015,  I saw President Obama use this exact lie of omission,  in support of Islam,  quoting that innocent fragment of verse 5:32,  without mentioning the rest of the verse or following verses.  It is as if Obama knows well the Muslim practice of Kitman.  It only took me a few minutes to find the full verse, and the full verse 5:33 which follows,  in both Arabic and English:

Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors.

Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment.

This is a far cry from the Islamic peaceful prohibition of killing,  that our lying president tried to claim it to be.  On the contrary,  it is the complete opposite.  It calls for the killing,  crucifying,  or cutting off of hands and feet of those who  cause  “corruption”.  Also, in the first verse,  it seems that the prohibition against killing was  “decreed upon the Chlidren of Israel”,  not upon Muslims.  Apparently,  Allah was simply reminding us of the sixth of the Ten Commandments,  “Thou shalt not kill”,  as delivered by God to Moses.  Then in 5:33,  Allah was exempting Islam from that,  reserving killing for Mohammed  (His Messenger)  and for Muslims.  And who gets to decide what  “corruption”  is,  this vague offense that we can be killed for?  Why,  the Musiims get to decide what  “corruption”  is,  of course.
So Obama is either lying,  stupid,  or thinks we are very stupid.  Now that you have seen the full verses of the Muslim  “prohibition against killing”,  I ask you:  What better license does an Islamic terrorist need to kill us?  What better permission does ISIS need,  for beheading,  crucifying,  or burying alive Christians in Iraq and Syria?  This  so-called prohibition against killing turns out to be a license to kill,  that is plain for all to see,  if you just read the verses.  Obama is giving us an on-going demonstration of the Muslim practice of Kitman,  or lying to unbelievers,  even while quoting the Koran itself.  For this he should be exposed as a liar and condemned by all.  Even honest Muslims should object to his lying,  if they want to separate themselves from the violent Muslims who use such deception to falsely justify their murder.

Though not called Taqiyya by name,  Mohammed clearly used deception when he signed a 10-year treaty with the Meccans that allowed him access to their city while he secretly prepared his own forces for a takeover.  The unsuspecting residents were conquered in easy fashion after he broke the treaty two years later,  and some of the people in the city who had trusted him at his word were executed.

In great contrast,  the Bible teaches that lying is wrong,  without distinction between lying to believers or unbelievers.  It states: “Thou shalt not bear false witness against your neighbor” (Exodus 20:16).  A Hebrew psalmist wrote: “Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit” (Psalm 34:13).  The Proverbs also condemn lying: “There are six things that the Lord hates…..a lying tongue” (Proverbs 6:16-17).  “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord” (Proverbs 12:22).  “It is better to be poor than to be a liar” (Proverbs 19:22).  Jesus weighed in with these words: “It is from within, from the heart, that evil intentions come: …..deceit….. All these things come from within,  and they defile a person” (Mark 7:21).

So it does not take a genius to figure out which religion the pathological liars of the world will choose,  if they want to participate in a religion.  They will most likely become Muslims,  so they can lie freely to non-Muslims,  with the approval of their prophet Mohammed and their god Allah.  This has been happening for 1400 years.  Islam has a tendency to attract unethical,  immoral people who are essentially predators,  and who have a tendency toward violence.  They may not be the majority,  but they are a large minority that does tremendous damage in the world.

The First Three Centuries

Another glaring difference between Christianity and Islam is the history of their first three centuries.  Can we judge a religion by its actions in its first three centuries?  I think we can judge it well by the first century alone,  but by three centuries the mold is definitely cast.  The intentions and teachings of the religion’s founder are still relatively fresh in the followers’ minds,  and they have had time to put those intentions and teachings into practice.  The organization of the religion has been established,  and the  “pecking order”  of leadership positions has been determined.  Distortions of the faith have been corrected,  heretics have been rebuked or banned,  and the founder’s most faithful followers have hopefully taken control.  Let us then apply this scale to Christianity and Islam.

The first three centuries of Christianity were its most authentic, true to its core values,  before it gained political sanction.  In Matthew 28:16-20,  Jesus commissioned his disciples to spread the gospel to all nations,  but this involved no killing,  no conquest,  no caliphate,  no religious tyranny of any kind.  It was a passionate campaign of peace and love.  Christianity sought no earthly kingdom;  it did not amass an army;  it did not seize land and persecute non-Christians.  Instead,  Christians were horribly persecuted themselves.  Even in these first three centuries of persecution,  Christianity spread far,  in a ring around the Mediterranean Sea.  Later,  it filled in the gaps,  covering most of south and west Europe,  as this map shows :

Christianity (spread of 400-800)

I want to make it clear that the first three centuries of this spread occurred while Christianity was under attack itself,  and not attacking others anywhere.  Even after the first three centuries,  when it gained political sanction,  Christianity did not typically spread itself by military attack.  Later,  it would turn inward on itself,  and use military force internally against groups of heretics.  But early on,  and for at least three centuries,  the faith was led by peaceful saints and martyrs,  many of whom followed the example of Christ and gave up their lives to spread a message of love and peace.  Even after Emperor Constantine ended Roman persecution in the early 300’s,  Christianity did not seize political control in these areas;  it peacefully co-existed with the governments of the land.

In great contrast,  the first three centuries of Islam were an orgy of conquest,  murder and persecution.  Refer back to the video of 548 battles above.  From 620 AD to 920 AD,  the red dots of battle spread like a plague over the Middle East,  North Africa,  and Europe,  with well over 100 battles in Spain alone.  The founder Mohammed sought political and military power in the early years of his messages from Allah,  started carving out an Arabic kingdom (which they later called a caliphate),  amassed an army,  seized control over as much land as possible,  and killed or persecuted many who did not accept his new religion.  The caliphs who followed Mohammed continued the bloody conquests,  and at the end of its third century, in about 920 AD,  Islam had conquered most of the Middle East,  the coastal regions of Africa,  and Spain.  In the process,  they murdered or enslaved  untold millions.  This is the true character of Islam,  spread by war,  ruling over other religions,  and it is ugly.  As I wrote above,  peaceful Muslims are peaceful in spite of Mohammed’s teachings and law,  not because of them.  There are teachings of love and peace,  but they are eclipsed by the militant teachings of conquest.  The militant Muslim groups are simply trying to return Islam to its original true character, and continue the conquest of the first three centuries of Islam,  until Islam holds the entire world in its iron grip.  ISIS leaders call peaceful Muslims  “moderns”,  and are disgusted with their tolerance of unbelievers,  infidels, which the Koran calls the kaffir.

Islam is an exclusive,  bigoted,  oppressive,  warring religion with doctrines that attract bullies,  liars,  killers and tyrants.  Its darker doctrines set Muslims to rule over people of other faiths,  and to take over the government.  Christianity is an inclusive,  liberating religion of peace that tells people to obey whatever government they are under;  to love your neighbor as you love yourself,  regardless of their beliefs.  So you tell me,  which is the better,  more peaceful,  more enlightened religion from a doctrinal standpoint?  The answer is obvious to everyone but Muslims.  Mohammed spent his life looting,  killing,  conquering and enslaving to set up his own earthly kingdom,  by the stroke of the sword.  Jesus said  “my kingdom is not of this world”,  and gave up his earthly life to the evil Jewish authorities of his time,  who were acting much like the Muslim leaders of the Taliban.  If Jesus came back today to minister to the radical Muslims as he ministered to the Jews,  he would be jailed and beheaded.

Buddha gave up a royal life of luxury to seek the truth,  but he never risked his life to prove the truth of his teachings,  so his teachings lack the urgency of a test of life or death.  Mohammed failed that test,  but Buddha never took it.

By contrast,  Jesus passed the test,  putting his life on the line,  without threatening other lives.  Jesus did knowingly and bravely risk his life,  just by  incarnating from spirit to flesh.  He had a metaphysical bulls-eye target painted on his back.  Dark forces knew who he was,  and wanted to kill him.  From the day he was born,  Herod’s  soldiers were looking for him to kill him.  His father Joseph was warned of the soldiers in a dream,  and he hustled Mary and Jesus out of town in the dead of the night,  before the soldiers arrived.  The soldiers killed every male infant they could find in the town,  perhaps 20 or 30 babies.  Joseph and Mary took Jesus to Egypt,  to escape the evil forces looking for them in Israel.  When Jesus grew up,  he said things that showed he knew that he was born to die horribly in the prime of his life,  and gave up his earthly life for his spiritual identity.  He stayed true to his moral principles in an incredibly immoral time of human history,  and he was brutally murdered by his evil enemies.  Then he thwarted all his enemies,  by rising  back to life three days later,  and appearing to his disciples and friends,  before ascending to take his rightful place as our Savior and Lord and Intercessor,  in the highest divine courtyards of Light in the temples of God.  This was a crucial accomplishment,  in God’s plan,  to prove to us the love and forgiveness and hope that our Creator feels for us,  his human creations,  even when we ignore him,  disobey him,  and some of us kill the precious messenger that he sent to us.

By being executed,  Jesus became a casualty of tyranny,  one of millions of victims brutally killed by Roman tyrants.  Jesus told a thief crucified next to him that he would see him in Paradise,  but we do not know what really happened to that thief,  or the other thief who mocked Jesus on the cross.  What happened to the millions of other victims killed?….. we do not know, since they did not get four Gospels written about them.  Have they received any justice,  or even any comfort?…..  we do not know.  Sadly,  we do know that their killers were not stopped,  but were allowed to go on torturing and killing,  to their evil heart’s content,  destroying as many people as they could.  Jesus was a special case,  a planned victim,  sent from God to teach us a new philosophy of love and compassion,  and to be killed in the process.  But his teachings have not done anything to prevent the constant slaughter of good people on this Earth.  If anything,  they have increased the slaughter,  by teaching people not to fight back,  but to turn the other cheek.  He told us to leave Justice to God…..  which his followers have largely done…..  so where is the Justice?  When is it coming to your town or mine?  When is it coming to the killing fields of Islam?  In so many Muslim countries,  jihadists are killing Christians and anyone else who resists them,  in their own perverted campaign of Islamic justice,  which goes against all other concepts of justice.  God’s timing for justice is a mystery,  but NOW would be a good time.

A Plea For Justice….. Which Is Long Overdue

After Jesus rose from the tomb in triumph over death and evil,  after he recovered from his devastating  spiritual ordeal,  and after he took his rightful place at the right hand of God,  far above us,  he  should have given a thought to Justice in the human realm.  And I believe that he does.  Because when  in Jerusalem,  he made or obtained a weapon,  in the form of a whip, and  he purged the Temple of the money-changers and animal-sellers,  in a shocking non-pacifist attack.  He greatly disrupted the business of the Temple,  attracting a crowd,  which must have included Jewish Pharisees and Roman soldiers on duty at the Temple.  It is amazing that he did not get arrested for this outrageous offense.  One of the money-changers challenged Jesus,  asking for a sign of his authority.  Jesus answered in a mysterious way,  saying that if this “temple”  was destroyed,  he would raise it again in three days.  His listeners had no way of knowing Jesus’ double meaning of the word “temple”.  This claim was ridiculed on that day,  and it was evidence in the case against him,  but it was a true prediction of his own resurrection.  He attacked the money-changers  perhaps on two different occasions,  but this has been poorly reported by his followers.  There is a little-known painting by Rembrandt that I have recently discovered,  depicting this incident.

I am very grateful to Master Rembrandt for this painting.  Obviously,  he thought this was a very important incident,  that needed to be honored and commemorated.  Most Christians  focus on Jesus’ words of peace and love,  and ignore or mis-interpret his words of justice.  Here is a link to an excellent article,  about the justice of Jesus,  about Jesus with a whip:     http://www.americanthinker.com/2014/04/jesus_with_a_whip.html   This is where I found the Rembrandt painting.  It has some very interesting points,  so please give it a few minutes of your time.

Imagine yourself as a money-changer seeking to exploit the Jewish pilgrims of the Passover,  by providing them with the currency of the Temple,  at a nice profit,  just as your ancestors have done for centuries before you,  only to find the whip of this troublemaker Jesus stinging your back,  as he overturns your table,  scatters your coins,  and drives you out of the Temple.

The seeming impulsiveness of this incident is just as puzzling as its singularity.  Prior to this,  the actions of Jesus were peaceful and passive,  though his words were sometimes inflammatory.  Then Jesus directly observed the injustice of the corrupt money-changers and animal-sellers,  in his beloved Temple,  and he took steps to forcefully end that injustice,  at least for that day.  But this was petty,  paltry injustice.  There was much greater injustice occurring in the ranks of the Jewish priests,  oppressing and robbing the Jewish people in many ways.  There was much greater injustice occurring in the hierarchy of the Roman Empire,  oppressing and robbing many conquered countries.  Jesus would have been much more effective to take a whip to the back of the High Priest Caiaphas who controlled the corrupt Sanhedrin and Pharisees,  or King Herod who killed all the male infants of Bethlehem when Jesus was born and beheaded John the Baptist, or Pontius Pilate who had his Roman soldiers slaughter and crucify many Jews before Jesus,  or the Roman Emperor Tiberius who had sex with children then killed them  (probably hundreds),  murdered thousands at a whim and brutally oppressed millions including the Jews in the remote province of  “Palestine”.  Surely Jesus was aware of their horrific crimes,  but he did nothing about them.  Instead,  curiously,  he chose to attack a few money-changers and animal-sellers in the Temple.  This made a great teaching point for him,  about the sanctity of Jewish temples,  which should not be violated.  But,  surely, as he told his disciples,  he knew that this particular Temple,  the greatest of all Temples,  would soon be violated in the worst possible way by pagan oppressors?  Was he ignoring that disastrous event to avoid what the military calls  “mission creep”;  being distracted from your original mission by a seemingly greater mission that is not appropriate at the time?  That is one possibility.

(There is a much better example of Jesus applying force to accomplish justice,  against a man named Saul of Tarsus,  but that will be addressed in the section below named  “Promises,  Promises,  Promises”.  For now,  let me finish this point about the Temple.)

Herods-templeThe very Temple that Jesus defended with a whip,  that he called  “My Father’s House”,   was utterly destroyed a mere 40 years later by Roman legions putting down the Jewish revolt.  Even worse, the bodily temples of over a million Jews were killed.  Some of these Jewish victims had probably seen and heard the ministry of Jesus, when they were young.  Some of them may have been crying out his name when the Roman swords cut them down.  Some of them may have been killed on the very spot where Jesus had whipped the money-changers.  The same stones that had rung with the clanging of falling coins,  were now soaked with innocent Jewish blood.  Then those stones were dismantled or crushed by the Romans,  to destroy the Temple of these “rebellious” Jews who would not bow to the gods of the Romans.

Contrary to Jesus’ answer to the money-changer above,  Jesus did not return to rebuild the temple in three days,  as he could have.  This miracle would have been an appropriate answer to the Romans,  and it would have instructed the Romans of their great evil and folly.  Can you just imagine an intense and blinding light enveloping the destroyed temple for a period of hours or days,  drawing the awed attention of every surviving citizen of Jerusalem,  every soldier of the Roman legions who just destroyed that temple and murdered its worshippers?  Can you imagine the intense light pulsing and humming with pure notes of sound,  almost as if composing music?  Can you imagine the intense light then fading away,  to leave a restored temple,  standing just as tall as it did when it was first completed?   Can anyone doubt that this miracle would have converted a large number of Romans to Christianity,  would have hastened the rise of Christianity in the Roman Empire by three centuries,  and would have saved countless Christians murdered in those three centuries?  What a shame that Jesus did not return, to do what he told the money-changer he would do.  He had “rebuilt” one “temple” in three days,  but he did not keep his word concerning the other “temple”.

He did not return,  and the Romans continued to crush the Jews,  and the Christians,  under their heels,  for centuries.  Am I the only one who grieves for the crushing of the Jews,  and the crushing of countless other nations by evil tyrants,  right up to the present day,  which moves me to respectfully ask why the Creator of the universe cannot  (or will not)  do SOMETHING to prevent or stop such horrific disasters?   Jesus with a whip was a good start,  but it needs to go far beyond that.

According to Christian doctrine,  a crucial and profound divine mission was accomplished by the loving sacrifice of Jesus.  His blood paid for our sins  and our salvation,  if we repent and believe.  We get that,  and we are grateful for it.  Two thousand years later,  another crucial mission remains to be accomplished,  the mission of Justice,  and I wish They would get started with it.  Justice is not only long overdue…..  it is constantly due,  it is constantly needed,  like the air that we breathe,  and it is wrong to intentionally delay it….. justice is an essential ingredient for goodness and morality.  Without it,  goodness and morality are distorted almost beyond recognition,  or they are destroyed.

The Constant Need and Responsibility for Justice

It could be argued:  Justice is constantly due,  constantly needed as a component of goodness.  People define justice in different ways,  but when people are being mistreated or under attack,  when the fires of conflict are burning them,  when they are being cheated,  robbed,  raped,  hit,  cut,  stabbed,  or shot,  no one argues that they should not have justice now,  that they should wait for it and have it next month,  next year,  in ten years,  in fifty years,  or after they die.  Many people may despair of having justice in this life,  and so hope for it in the afterlife.  But all people want and need justice and fairness in every moment,  every relationship,  every transaction,  every conflict.  That is why I say justice is constantly due,  constantly needed as a component of goodness.

I am not focusing here on minor details of justice,  called “fairness”  or  “social justice”  by those who have a lesser agenda.  We desire these things,  of course,  and we need them.  But we must handle the milder issues of fairness or social justice for ourselves.  I am not concerned with the fine-tuning of a musical instrument,  or how the music sounds…..  I am concerned about the complete destruction of the instruments and the musicians.  Those lesser issues do not involve the massive destruction of good people by evil people.  The type of people who concern themselves with minor issues of  “fairness”  or  “social justice”  typically cannot address extreme torture,  murder,  terrorism,  genocide,  ethnic purging,  jihad,  oppression, slavery,  war….. the absolute domination or destruction of one or more persons by another.  Stopping or ending such domination or destruction,  is the type of justice I mean here.  It often requires killing the attackers,  because if they persist,  there is no other way to stop them.  But killing the attackers is not the goal.  The goal is to stop their dominating or destroying activity.

Priests,  lawyers,  politicians,  professors,  social workers, and  “community organizers”  (like our current lousy excuse for a president)  deal very poorly with such things,  even if they are free of corruption or vice  (and they rarely are).  Their philosophy is incomplete or flawed,  and it is a fatal flaw,  for others if not themselves.  Their philosophy slows them down in dealing with evil,  because it values  “love”  or  “compassion”  or  “forgiveness”  or  “equality”  or  “peace”  or  “resolution”  or  “diplomacy”  over the enforcement of justice.  Other moral values are truly important at times,  but justice is the only value that is vital at all times,  because it protects all the others from destruction,  and provides a safe environment for them to operate.  Justice needs to come first,  not  last,  as it does in religious doctrine and most of human society.

In human religious doctrine,  justice always comes last,  usually in the afterlife,  after the criminal or sinner has indulged in a full life of crime or sin.  While the criminal or sinner is being allowed his full wayward life,  and he attacks or victimizes us,  we are told to love our enemy.  We are not even allowed to properly defend ourselves,  to enforce some justice for the common good.  The criminal’s  “free will”  seems to be valued more highly than the  “free will”  of his victims.  We are told to  “turn the other cheek”…..   but collectively,  after thousands of years of following this teaching,  humanity has almost run out of cheeks to turn,  and evil is still strong in the world…..  this usually does not work anyway,  because most criminals just keep attacking all the turned cheeks that they can find.  In the karmic religions,  such as Buddhism,  justice comes last.  Karma does nothing to stop the criminal in the act,  but forces him or her to suffer much later,  usually in the next life,  when someone else does it to them,  causing the need for more karmic punishment,  ad infinitum,  ad nauseum.  Even worse,  karmic believers say they should not intervene in a crime,  that the victim of a crime must deserve it,  because they did something bad in a past life.  I call this a cruel excuse for cowardice and apathy.  If karma had any validity,  as a force for goodness,  then its followers should be jumping at the chance to stop an attacker,  to save the current victim and many future victims from harm.  That should rack up tons of good karma,  and wipe out tons of bad karma,  without waiting for the next life.  If you get killed in the attempt,  so much the better,  because that should be good for added bonus karma in the next life.

I have a basic question….. a question that everyone should ask,  sometime in their life….. a question that is empowered by all the suffering,  all the abuse,  all the slavery,  all the torture,  all the murders,  all the tyrannies,  all the religious crusades and jihads,  all the wars that the human race has had to suffer since its birth on this planet.  It is a question that many people ask,  in some form,  but they ask it from within the constraints of a rigid belief system,  which gives them a dubious answer.  So here is the question,  for your consideration :

Why is it that forces that are supposedly omnipotent,  such as God or karma,  allow unlimited murder,  mayhem, and destruction on this planet,  and then delay any justice until later,  after all the horrendous damage is done?

From an objective standard of logic and morality,  something is very wrong with such a scenario.  But this is the scenario that all orthodox religions want us to believe:  evil people can murder millions of good people on this planet,  while God does nothing to stop them,  because he grants them free will.  But don’t worry,  all is well,  don’t fight them,  because God (or karma) will punish them later,  and will reward you for not fighting them.  This sounds like the philosophical evil equivalent of a used car salesman.  And so it is,  because it is a lie that conceals the truth,  in order to sell us a useless piece of junk. This lie is countered by the simple old adage that anyone can understand:  “two wrongs do not make a right.”  No amount of future punishment can compensate for the murder of millions now.  The millions cannot be given their lives back,  the horrific damage cannot be undone,  by later punishing those who did it,  after they have died themselves. The religious salesmen who try to sell us this idea are working on the side of evil,  not on the side of goodness,  but they have been deceived into believing that this idea is good,  and that they are good in preaching it.  Such deceived salesmen are leading every religion in the world.  Something is drastically wrong with all of the popular global religious scenarios of delayed justice,  sanctioned by an omnipotent entity such as God,  or an omnipotent force such as karma.  It does not make any sense at all,  from any moral,  logical,  or philosophical viewpoint.  The answers to the question above,  given by theologians and gurus  (the sales managers),  generally revolve around “free will” and  “love”,  but those answers do not make much sense either.  If you will seriously entertain this question,  and honestly think about it for just a few minutes,  you will then begin to question every established belief system in the world,  and you will begin to actually think for yourself,  perhaps for the first time in your life.  This question begs for an answer,  and finding the answer might be the greatest adventure of your life.  It is surely the greatest adventure of my life,  and I am asking you to join me in that adventure.

In secular human society,  there is also a great tendency for justice to come last.  There is a great tendency to allow a criminal to commit a crime and get away,  to delay any justice until later.  For example,  many stores and businesses will fire or penalize employees who fight or resist a thief who comes in to rob the place.  This is an outrageous violation of the principle of justice….. actually it is a gross injustice or evil in itself,  caused by corporate lawyers who let the risk of liability destroy their morality.  For another example,  people get attacked and mugged on a busy street,  with plenty of witnesses,  but no one lifts a finger to repel the attacker.  It is left for the police to try to track down the attacker and achieve some justice later,  or last.  This is an even more outrageous violation of justice,  caused by fear and cowardice of the witnesses,  who let the fear of injury override their morality.  They will say they were not cut out to be a  “hero”,  but a true hero will tell you that they are not a “hero”,  that they just did what was right.

On the other hand,  we frail humans do have our reasons for putting justice last,  with fear of injury being one of the strongest,  and fear of retaliation or lawsuit running right behind it.  Our lives and families can be destroyed,  if we stand up for justice and become the target of vengeful evil.  God or karma have no such excuses,  for if they are omnipotent,  they cannot be injured,  retaliated against,  or sued.

In these and many other ways,  both religious and secular,  justice is de-valued,  moral values are turned upside-down,  and their proper priority is reversed.  Contrary to popular opinion,  contrary to popular religion,  and contrary to the Beatles,  “love”  is not  “all you need.”  It would be much closer to the truth to say  “justice is all you need”,  for when you have that,  love and all the other gentle values can blossom,  without fear of destruction.  Those who delay or de-value justice put all the other values  (love,  equality,  peace,  etc.)  in great peril.  And it is very telling,  that they rarely delay or de-value justice for themselves,  but always for others.  When they personally are being attacked, or perhaps their little  “group”  of family and friends,  they kick and scream, and they cry loudly for justice.  When other people,  outside their  “group”,  are being violently attacked and destroyed,  they ignore justice,  or they condemn the forceful steps needed to enforce it,  and they advise delays in the form of talking,  debating,  protesting,  petitioning,  negotiating,  sanctioning,  appeasing,  retreating …..  anything short of the immediate and violent response,  which is necessary to stop the attacker.  They tout these delays as effective action against the attackers,  which is a pathetic joke,  but they are not joking.  They will find all manner of reasons that they cannot directly engage the destroyers.  They cannot move fast enough to deal with destructive evil,  because their faulty philosophy will not allow it.  Their philosophy also causes them to stop others,  who are moving to deal with the destructive evil.  It is just like they put up a roadblock,  to stop the fire trucks from getting to the fire.  Yes,  it is that stupid.  This is part of what happened at the US embassy in Benghazi.

Sometimes,  their philosophy will not even recognize destructive evil,  proclaiming that there is  “no such thing as evil”.  Instead,  we must address the  “grievances”  of the aggressors,  to find out why they are so upset.  They believe in  “moral equivalence”,  which means that everyone is morally equivalent,  which is really a denial of immorality,  and a denial of the existence of evil.  Since there is no such thing as evil,  then we must find out why the criminals and terrorists have been  “driven”  to use violence….. we must ask ourselves what we or our society have done to harm them…..  because,  after all,  everyone is equal,  and there is no such thing as evil,  so nobody is evil,  and people who use violence must have some reason that is valid for them………. so we must listen to them and  “feel their pain”  and try to give them what they want,  so they will stop killing us….. and then we can all come together in a world full of love and peace.  So goes the fantasy,  when the immense human capacity for evil is left out of the equation.  I am not sure of the proper name of this evil-denying philosophy,  if there is a proper name,  but I call it liberal pacifism.

In another,  more virulent variety of liberal pacifism,  the believers are just morally aware enough to admit that evil exists,  but they assign it to the wrong persons.  They assign it to their philosophical opponents,  who are actually fighting evil more effectively than they are.  They would call me evil,  and this written article evil.  Typically,  anyone who approves of the use of violence to counter true evil,  is called evil themselves.  The younger George Bush is a perfect example.  The Marxist dictator of Venezuela,  Hugo Chavez,  who followed President George Bush at the podium in a UN speech,  took the opportunity to announce that he could still smell the evil fumes of  “El Diablo”,  or the devil,  who had just been there.  This was after liberal pacifists in the US had demonized Bush for years,  because of his many mistakes in the Iraq War.  Of all people,  Chavez was not morally qualified to call anyone evil,  except himself.  But evil people will never admit to their own evil.  Instead,  they point to their moral superiors,  their opponents,  those of us who would stop their abuse and destruction,  and call us evil.  Then,  adding insult to injury,  the pacifists among us also call us  “evil”  for using violence to try to stop the true evil.  There is a verse in the Bible that says a time will come when  “good is called evil,  and evil is called good.”  Without a doubt,  we are in such a time now.

The liberal pacifist denial of evil is a widespread fantasy,  even in the ranks of philosophers,  professors,  doctors and scientists who should know better.  Endless studies seek a genetic or biological or psychological or social reason for destructive behavior.  Evil people are labeled as  “disturbed”  or  “deranged”  or  “depraved”  or  “deprived”  or  “imbalanced”  or  “bipolar”  or  “psychotic”  or  “sick”  or  “crazy”  (certainly not  “evil”  because  “evil does not exist”).  They are called  “madmen”  or  “maniacs”  or  “sociopaths”  or  “psychopaths”,  and their violence is described as  “senseless”.  But they are not crazy,  and their violence makes a great deal of sense,  because it accomplishes the goals of their dominating,  destructive,  self-serving philosophy or religious doctrine.  The violence kills their enemies and opponents,  and intimidates others so they can be dominated.  They are playing a different game than the rest of us,  a game of domination with no rules,  no off-limits,  no restrictions,  no restraint.  We must recognize their deadly game,  and call it what it simply is:  evil.  Even if we foolishly grant that they were crazy or compelled to do violence,  the violence itself and its horrific results must be called what it simply is:  evil.  Regardless of the motivational factors,  our reaction should be the same:  immediate action to stop the attackers,  with whatever force it takes,  and a refusal to blame the victims of the attackers for causing the attack.

But evil people are not crazy or compelled,  they are extremely smart.  They are not hapless victims of their childhoods,  their genes,  their psyches,  their disorders,  etc.,  although they use these elements as their excuses,  and many educated fools listen to them.  Entire countries of educated fools will listen to them,  even join in with them,  as in Nazi Germany.  But  they all play the evil game of domination by choice,  and they use the stupidity and cowardice of their victims and opponents to great advantage.  They will never admit that they are evil by choice,  but will manufacture all manner of reasons that they are violent,  and how they are justified,  with elaborate lies to shift the blame onto their victims and opponents.  Sadly,  the victims and opponents usually listen to the elaborate lies to some extent,  and accept some of the blame,  and therein lies their stupidity.

The stupid liberal pacifist people who hold such views will refuse to recognize their enemies,  or the harm they are doing to others.  They have very limited vision or awareness,  because they are focused on one single chapter in the vast Book of Life  (their own chapter),  and they have no interest in reading more.  They are not evil themselves,  they have never encountered evil people or personally dealt with evil,  so they cannot anticipate or comprehend evil in others,  evil in government,  and evil in their leaders.  They might busy themselves with  “doing good”  or  “serving others”,  to feel good about themselves.  They typically do not keep up with national or global news.  They have no interest in human history,  other than to condemn it.  They have been described as  “low information voters”,  and this is a kind label for what they really are:  ignorant fools and hypocrites.  Their local humanitarian groups,  clubs,  services,  community projects,  charities and  churches are likely to be oppressed or outlawed by the next  change of national policy,  or the next political tyrant,  who may put them in jail or kill them.  But they won’t see it coming,  because they have no comprehension of the reality and power of evil.  Like the esteemed professors and scientists above,  many of them say that evil does not exist,  that it is a childish fantasy we need to outgrow,  because it diverts us from the real reasons for violence……….  it keeps us from  “understanding”  those poor abused criminals and terrorists,  who are really victims themselves………. and we,  or our society,  are the ones who have unfairly abused them.  How awful we are!  It is really all OUR own fault!

There is a growing group of liberals who hold this view about America,  that America was founded on evil principles,  that it is even more evil today,  oppressing its minorities and bullying other countries.  Our current president is one of these anti-American liberal progressive fools.  In many of our schools,  they are teaching our children this  “blame America first”  garbage.  An entire American generation is being poisoned with these liberal progressive anti-American lies.  America is the greatest country in history,  because it has core values of freedom,  equality,  opposition of tyranny,  and Christian values helping the poor and the weak.  Even though it has stumbled on the path of seeking those ideals,  America is by far the most moral and virtuous country in history.  And it is being attacked on all sides,  from the outside and inside,  by evil people who truly want to destroy all the goodness that America has done,  and would do in the future.

But these people who refuse to see true evil…..  they do see the riots,  the stores looted and destroyed,  the car bombs,  the downed airplanes,  the muggings,  the gangs,  the cartels,  the murders,  the wars,  the beheadings on TV or on the Internet.  They see the results of evil,  even if they do not  “believe”  in evil.  Therefore,  fear or cowardice might be an ulterior motive for their reluctance to take direct personal action against aggressive evil,  because direct personal action involves great personal risk. They are concerned with the living,  mostly themselves,  but  I am concerned with the dead and dying.

Those of us who do see true evil,  and who still do not run from it,  bear a great burden,  a burden of one in a thousand.  We are willing to fight and to die,  while those thousand we protect are not willing,  and will not help us.  They lack courage,  they lack understanding,  they lack maturity,  and they lack wisdom.  They criticize us,  shun us,  run from us,  even condemn us as evil or crazy.  But we should not be discouraged,  for that is what the weaker friends of all good men do.  We follow a higher calling.  We know what the stakes are,  we know what the enemy is doing,  we see them as the predators they really are,  and those we protect do not see it.  Those we protect could even be our children,  our parents,  our brother,  our sister,  our husband or wife,  our friends,  and still they do not see.  Even while they shun us,  we fight on,  with the hope that someday they will realize what we have done for them,  they will appreciate the sacrifices we have made for the higher good,  they will finally see what we have seen all along…..  that evil exists,  that it is all-destroying,  and that it must be defeated,  before we can live in any true peace.  Peace in the presence of evil is not true peace,  it is a fantasy,  a lie,  and a cowardly denial of duty.  We cannot honestly declare peace for ourselves,  while evil devours others anywhere in the world.  In order to defeat evil,  we must take risks,  we must defend our neighbor,  we must take decisive and drastic action…..  we must fight every fire of evil,  whether in our own back yard,  or someone else’s back yard across an ocean.  We must break things and kill people….. but only kill those people who have chosen to be destructive themselves,  and who can be stopped no other way.

We  (the universal We,  including God)  should take direct action to stop the destruction of life by evil men,  anywhere and everywhere,  before we can worry about  “fairness” in the conduct of life. It is hypocritical to worry about  “fairness”  in our own life or our own community,  when the lives and communities of other people are being completely destroyed.  What is needed, is the moral equivalent of a doctor conducting triage after a disaster or a battle,  but a warrior is needed instead of a doctor.  You must first help those victims who are dying,  before you help those who are having a stomach ache or a bad day.  Life on Earth is an on-going disaster or battle,  for most of its people.  To help them,  we do not have the luxury of the doctor arriving after the disaster, attack or battle; in the aftermath of the destruction.  We must arrive during the disaster, attack or battle,  to stop the forces of destruction.  The best treatment of an injury,  is to keep the injury from happening in the first place.  So we must arrive during the disaster,  attack or battle,  with weapons and tools of force,  to stop the on-going destruction.  We  (the universal We,  including God)  must stop the destructive injustice as it is happening.  There are at least two strategic advantages to this:  first,  the amount of destruction gets greatly minimized,  and second,  the attackers are identified by being caught in the act,  so no one can question their guilt.  Their lies about it will be ineffective,  and they do not have to be tracked down later.  There are different levels or degrees of injustice,  and I am dealing here with the most damaging,  whether done by a lone assassin like John Wilkes Booth,  killer of one,  or done by a Charles Manson,  killer of a few,  or done by a Josef Stalin,  destroyer of tens of millions,  or done by an organization like the Muslim Brotherhood,  oppressor of hundreds of millions of non-Muslims from the 1920’s to the current day,  Islam’s version of the KKK or the Mafia.  Again,  the specific type of justice I am referring to here,  that we need help with,  is the termination or stopping of evil or destructive actions by others,  as in severe abuse,  oppression,  crime,  or tyranny.

The violent forms of injustice are like a fire burning a forest,  like flames leaping from tree to tree,  consuming the entire crown of a tree in seconds …..  the fires of violent injustice burn and destroy their victims at every moment of combustion,  and the forces of justice and goodness must IMMEDIATELY work to put out the fire,  like firemen,  to end it’s massive destruction.  Often,  the best way to fight a forest fire is with another fire,  to cut off it’s access to more fuel.  But regardless of how it is done,  the abuser,  criminal or tyrant is like a destroying flame of fire that must be put out NOW,  for as long as it is burning,  it is destroying the happiness,  the health,  the property,  the dignity,  the freedom of innocent people.

Or consider a garden,  where we are trying to grow fruits or vegetables,  to feed ourselves and others.  The violent forms of injustice,  of evil,  are like weeds and insects,  which invade our garden and choke out or destroy our precious food plants.  We cannot  “turn the other cheek”  to the weeds and insects,  we cannot forgive them,  we cannot negotiate with them.  We must destroy them,  or they will destroy our garden,  or more accurately,  they will take it from us and use everything we have put into our garden,  for their own selfish gain,  leaving us to starve.  Or if we imagine ourselves as the fruit of the garden,  we must choose if we are going to allow the weeds and insects to devour us,  or if we will fight to defeat them and fulfill our intended purpose,  to become the bread of life for ourselves and others.  Now imagine our garden to be the entire world,  and imagine God’s garden to be the entire universe….. not the mythical Garden of Eden,  where we ate some silly forbidden apple.  It gives one a sudden clarity of purpose,  and an understanding of the universal struggle between good and evil,  between love and hate,  between freedom and oppression.  Religious doctrine does not give one this clarity and understanding,  but instead conceals it and confuses us.

Everyone knows the feelings of injustice…..  when you are unfairly treated,  when you are falsely accused,  when you are slighted,  cheated,  abused or disrespected…..  it upsets you,  it depresses you,  it saddens you,  it makes you angry.  When you are violently attacked and injured,  those feelings are all the more intense,  and terror or fear is added,  along with physical bodily damage.  The longer the injustice lasts,  the more it damages you and weakens you,  the more it saps the life energy out of you.  It’s destructive fire is burning the goodness out of you.  Even if the injury or injustice is corrected,  it leaves you permanently scarred,  emotionally damaged,  perhaps bitter or resentful,  weary or wary,  and less capable in certain ways,  such as love and trust.

Conversely,  when you are treated fairly,  when you are respected,  when you are given positive attention,  when others show care and consideration for you,  when others help you recover from injury,  when others sincerely apologize for hurting you…..  it is a wonderful and uplifting feeling, and it can regenerate you and re-energize you.  These are universal feelings,  and I mean that quite literally,  as expressed by a universal natural moral principle,  that everyone should recognize as true,  and no one can honestly argue against :

Every intelligent being in the universe shares a constant need for justice from others,  and a constant responsibility for justice to others.  Therefore,  justice has a constant urgency.  Like the constant urgent need of our lungs for air,  our souls have a constant urgent need for justice.  Therefore ,  justice cannot be rightfully denied;  it cannot be rightfully refused;  it cannot be rightfully neglected.  Also,  It cannot be rightfully delayed.  Justice is often thwarted,  by various obstacles or weaknesses,  but it should not be delayed by willful intention.  Justice should not be withheld in any way by willful intention,  because delaying or withholding justice allows active evil destructive agents to keep destroying,  just like the flame of a fire,  as mentioned above.

So,  justice that is intentionally delayed is,  in fact,  a form of cruel injustice.  He who knowingly delays justice against active evil,  becomes an enabler and a silent partner to the evil.  In the laws of men,  this is known as criminal negligence,  when we fail to act in a way we should have acted,  and could have acted,  to prevent harm to others.  Is this a universal moral principle that should be honored by man and by God?  I believe that it is.  Also,  the Bible places huge responsibility upon us to help others,  and upon God to help us.  Next we must consider:  is God capable of delivering justice on Earth,  for individuals or for society?  The Bible and other writings say that God is fully capable,  but is delaying justice for various reasons.  I think this is a moral impossibility,  so it follows that God may not be as capable as advertised,  i.e.,  may not be omnipotent.  This notion goes against every major religion in the world  (except Buddhism,  which is irrelevant here,  for the moment).  But it is an important notion to consider,  that could explain a great deal of controversy and conflicts,  between the doctrines of the major deity religions,  and the ugly realities of human history.

Humans tend to prefer their Gods to be omnipotent,  just like children tend to idolize their fathers at some stage of life,  but we need to grow up and face reality.  Fathers are not perfect or all-powerful,  as we can know from direct observation as children and direct experience as fathers.  God cannot be omnipotent,  as we can know from logical reasoning and moral intuition,  from the study of the history of our own planet.  His creative powers are great,  and He spreads the energy of Life across the universe.  He sets galaxies in motion,  but He does not stop an evil man from killing you or me.  He can have a great impact wherever He chooses to focus his power,  but He allows earthquakes,  volcanoes,  hurricanes,  and tsunamis to slaughter us.  He teaches love and compassion through prophets,  but allows wars to destroy millions of us.  He can radiate Love across the universe.  But when it comes to enforcing Justice on this planet,  there is a glaring lack of power,  a severe limitation of some kind,  a disconnect from the moral principles of responsibility that are taught in the many holy books that claim to speak His words.

A philosophy that teaches universal moral responsibility,  such as the Bible does,  cannot   “turn the other cheek”  to evil,  but must take steps to oppose it and stop it.  If we are  “our brother’s keeper”,  and everyone is our brother,  then when they turn to evil,  we must oppose them in an effort to stop them and correct them.  When they are attacked by evil,  we must fight to save them.  Conversely,  when we are attacked by evil,  we wish and pray for our brothers to fight to save us.  The prevailing pacifism that has emerged from Christian doctrine,  is counter-productive to the enforcement of justice,  to say the least.  It is like a virus introduced into the church,  the body of Christ,  to sicken and weaken it.  Pacifism sabotages justice.  Pacifism destroys justice,  allows evil to destroy goodness,  and allows hate to destroy love.  Pacifism is the enemy’s best argument to defeat us,  telling us that we should not fight them,  as they are conquering us.

Leaving religion and God out of the picture,  I also believe in universal moral responsibility,  but two of the main specific responsibilities that universal responsibility requires,  are  1) the responsibility to actively oppose evil actions of others,  in our presence,  even at great personal risk,  and  2) the larger responsibility to oppose evil actions of others at a distance,  to enforce justice,  without regard to proximity,  distance,  or human legal jurisdiction,  whether it be across the street or across an ocean.  The true jurisdiction of justice is universal and global,  and when people refuse to admit that,  the end result is massive injustice for all….. which is the usual state of affairs on Earth.  Whatever goodness fails to defend,  evil will take or destroy.

Free Will  VS.  Permissive Inaction

Getting back to concepts of God,  theologians will say that God is limited because he grants us  “free will”,  so he cannot stop those who do evil,  but will judge them and punish them later.  God will not even stop the massive murders and genocides of evil regimes, such as Nazi Germany and ISIS,  or the slaughter of innocent people by evil terrorists.  According to the theologians,  an omnipotent God of Love stands back and allows all this destruction,  because he allows the evil destroyers to have their  “free will”,  even to destroy everything,  even to enslave the entire world.  In this bizarre doctrine,  our  “free will”  is elevated to sacred status,  but only during our physical lives.  Then after we die,  our  “free will”  is somehow no longer sacred,  and moral accounts are somehow settled,  then souls enjoy eternal reward or suffer eternal punishment.

But there is a huge problem with this  “free will”  doctrine.  It depicts a loving God sacrificing and forfeiting the world to evil,  when that evil could be stopped by God,  and its victims could be saved.  This doctrine violates every moral principle of responsibility,  and violates the universal moral principle I have distilled and proposed above.  If justice has not been enforced while we are in bodies,  and all manner of evil and injustice has been done,  then all victims of evil have been deprived of time and resources to earn their salvation.  After God has allowed evil and injustice to reign free on Earth,  with evil people killing good people at will and without limit,  any punishment of the victims in the afterlife would be a huge travesty and injustice.

For example,  let us say that a serial murderer or terrorist,  using his God-given  “free will”,   kills people who are not perfect or  “saved”…..  he murders a compulsive liar,  a burglar,  a man who cheats on his wife,  a woman who cheats on her husband,  a prostitute,  an embezzler,  a drug addict,  and an alcoholic.  But let us say these  “sinners”,  whose sins are far less than murder,  would have reformed their lives if not murdered,  and let us say their murderer does reform his life,  after feeling remorse for killing them.  I have no doubt that this has happened countless times in human history.  Does the repentant born-again murderer then get rewarded in the afterlife,  and his  “sinning”  victims get punished forever?  Most Christian theologians would say yes.  I do not think so,  but no matter their fate in the afterlife,  it cannot undo the fact that the murderer was allowed to kill and kill and kill again,  without being stopped by God.

This fact of permissive inaction must be accounted for,  because it is the broken link in the chain of logic and morality.  If those above us are guilty of permissive inaction,  the proper progression of moral responsibility breaks down,  evil gains the upper hand,  and there is no way that we humans below can make up for the permissive inaction of those above us.  Because of their permissive inaction,  the chain of command,  the chain of supply,  the chain of support,  the chain of logic,  the chain of morality on the side of goodness has been broken.

Let us say that the murderer,  instead of killing  “sinners”,  uses his  “free will”  to kill people who are close to perfect,  with no major faults or sins,  people who care for and heal and protect others,  such as doctors,  nurses,  teachers,  firemen,  counselors,  ministers.  Allowing the murderer to keep abusing his  “free will”  comes at the great cost of these providers’  lives,  and the great loss of all the people they would have helped and saved,  all the great goodness they would have done,  in the rest of their lives.  Their  “free will”  is destroyed,  along with their very existence and the chain of healing influence they were producing.  Conversely,  stopping the murderer after the first murder,  or even better,  before the first murder was completed,  would save all these good people,  all the people they will save in the future,  and all the goodness they will accomplish in the world.

If we,  like God,  knew when the murderer,  with full evil intent and the means to do it,  will commit his first murder,  then he could be stopped in the minutes or seconds before he pulls the trigger.  This is what our snipers do on the battlefield,  as brilliantly portrayed in the excellent movie  “American Sniper”.  But we need a way to do it off the battlefield,  in everyday life.  This goal became quite a problem in the excellent movie  “Minority Report”,  but it should be no problem for God.  Great power brings great responsibility,  and someone must be held to account for permissive inaction in the presence of destructive evil.  There is no accounting for this in popular religion.

Instead,  we are told that God can do as much or as little as he pleases,  to enforce justice,  with no standard of consistency.  We are presented with a story that swings from one extreme to the other;  from destroying the entire human race in a flood and saving only one family,  to allowing his Son to be ridiculed,  tortured and murdered by the people that he was sent to help,  without lifting a finger to stop it.  Then the Son left us to rejoin the Father,  with promises to watch over us and protect us  (promises that have not been kept). This bloody sacrifice supposedly ushered in a new policy of love and tolerance,  which urges us to suffer and endure all injustice,  like Jesus did,  and discourages us from enforcing any justice for ourselves.  Meanwhile,  though he loves us and requires our faith,  God gives us no justice,  no protection while we are alive.  He allows evil people to dominate and destroy us,  and tells us to  “turn the other cheek”.  He says that after we are dead,  the good will be rewarded and the evil will be punished.  But while we are living our one crucial bodily life on this planet,  our one crucial bodily life that will determine our eternal destiny,  evil forces will not be stopped by God,  and those evil forces can kill any of us,  at any time.  Does this narrative make any sense to you?  It does not make any sense to me,  but this is the basic story we are force-fed when we attend any Christian church.  It is a man-made fantasy that has no relation to moral or physical or spiritual reality,  and very little relation to God.

Regardless of what really happened,  or what we inquire about what really happened,  there are strong agendas of religious doctrine trying to FORCE US into a singular interpretation,  and to reject any questioning of that interpretation.  There are many choices available to the religious shopper.  The range of choice is astonishing,  if you do any research into religious beliefs.  But if you attend any church,  temple,  synagogue,  or mosque,  even if it is a  “liberal” one or a  “new age”  one,  you will subject yourself to the oppressive force of a religious doctrine,  that demands conformity and crushes intelligent critical thought.  All of the popular religious doctrines are deeply flawed,  from a logical,  moral,  and philosophical viewpoint.  I do not say this lightly,  and I am in good company.  Remember that Jesus condemned the Pharisees,  the religious authorities of his time.  Remember that Jesus was arrested,  condemned,  and executed by those same authorities.  There are many  “Pharisees”  in every religion today.  It is sad that a person who seeks the truth or who knows the truth,  like Jesus did,  must oppose the influence of all the popular religious organizations.  But they must be opposed,  because all of the popular religious doctrines violate basic moral principles of responsibility,  on all levels from God to man.  On our level,  they suppress justice and surrender the world to be dominated by the unjust.  On God’s level,  religious doctrine gives God a pass on all the responsibilities he places upon us,  and it does not account for the absence or inaction of an omnipotent God,  which permits all manner of evil to triumph over goodness on our level.  We,  as spiritual moral beings,  sense that this cannot be true,  therefore we sense that religious doctrine is false.

Permissive inaction must be accounted for,  because the delaying or withholding of justice against destructive evil is immoral and unethical,  and could be considered gross negligence.  It could be considered criminal or even evil itself,  because it greatly enables and empowers evil.  This point has already been addressed in the above section on “The Constant Need and Responsibility for Justice”.

Also, I ask the theologians,  why is  “free will”  more sacred and inviolate when we occupy bodies,  than when we leave those bodies?  All this accomplishes is to allow evil a free reign in this world,  where it can do the most damage.  If earthly life is a classroom or a lesson or a test,  it would be much easier to learn the lesson or pass the test,  if we struggling students were not constantly being attacked and murdered by our classmates who have already failed the test!!!

Here is the solution,  in the form of a philosophical principle that makes logical,  practical,  and moral sense:  Whether in bodies or in spirit,  those who abuse their  “free will”,  who turn it to evil and destroy others,  have instantly forfeited their right to that  “free will”,  in that very moment of destruction,  and it becomes the moral obligation of others to take that  “free will”  away from the evil ones.  If they do not,  the evil ones will continue to actively destroy the  “free will”  of their victims,  whether one victim or one million.  If this one principle was widely followed by people,  it would vastly improve the human condition.  But the omnipotent God of the theologians would have the greatest moral obligation of all,  to take away the  “free will”  of the evil ones,  because he has the greatest capability to stop the evil ones,  and he is the one who supposedly gave them their  “free will”  in the first place.  If so,  he then has the obligation to take it away,  when they abuse it to destroy others.  The victims of the evil ones are also entitled to their sacred “free will”,  but it is taken away from them by the evil one.  When a victim is abused,  oppressed,  or murdered by a criminal,  the  “free will”  of the criminal is trampling and destroying the  “free will”  of the victim,  as described above in the case of a serial murderer or terrorist.  And when a tyrant gains power in a country,  why should the  “free will”  of a few evil ones  be allowed to destroy the  “free will”  of millions?  Simply,  it should not.

So,  if  “free will”  were such a sacred and precious thing to God,  then God would not allow evil people to destroy so much of it in their victims. The  “free will”  of one evil person would not be allowed to destroy the  “free will”  of many,  even millions,  by killing them.  To allow this makes a mockery of the importance of  “free will”  and justice.  But religious doctrine tells us that this is allowed.  Also,  popular  “New Age”  spiritualism says this is allowed.  Do not allow twisted religious doctrine to blind you to the moral truth.  Justice requires the immediate revoking of the  “free will”  of the evil one,  when he or she commits evil acts.  This is how human societies conduct themselves,  in the pursuit of justice.  Or at least,  this is the model written into our laws,  though the enforcement is difficult.  For human society,  it is extremely difficult to identify,  find,  capture,  put to trial,  and punish a murderer,  but that is the goal of our laws and our society.  Just imagine how insane and evil it would be,  for human society to allow a known mass murderer to continue killing innocent victims until he died a natural death,  knowing who he is and where he lives all the time,  but not lifting a finger to stop him,  because we cannot violate his sacred  “free will”  until he has died…..  then after he has died,  we will violate his  “free will”  and punish him.  Yet this is what religious doctrine teaches us about God.  Do not accept it,  about God or about ourselves.  The moral principle of revoking  “free will”   from evil people is the only ethical way to conduct ourselves,  as a society and as individuals and as souls,  in dealing with evil and  “free will”.  Everyone reading this should know in their souls this is morally right,  so any religious doctrine to the contrary is simply wrong.  If enough people,  even theologians,  can agree on this one simple point concerning evil and free will,  then that is a good start to making justice happen more often.  I hope you can see that my target in this article is not God,  but rather the human religious doctrines about God that have been forced upon believers for thousands of years,  as well as the new ones that are popping up in recent decades.

Many Ways to Understand the Messages of the Bible,  But Who is Right?

We may never know the answer to that question,  but it is easier to ask who is wrong……….

Nicaea-sistineburning books 1burning books 2. . . . . . The Bible is a great book that contains some teachings from God.  But it is also a flawed collection of ancient books,  chosen by arrogant,  power-hungry Christian (Catholic) bishops in the early centuries after Christ,  with the specific agenda to make God omnipotent,  and to make humanity the scum of the earth,  with the bishops as the intercessors between God and the scum He banished from Eden,  with the bishops holding the keys to Heaven or Hell,  and dangling those keys in front of their fearful flock of sheep-like scum,  and their local priests.  In the second century,  they started calling the church  “Catholic”,  to separate it from the Gnostics,  Arians,  and other groups who held different Christian beliefs,  and who accepted writings other than the ones that ended up in the Bible.  The clashes between those groups and the Catholic church escalated.  There were many battles fought over the content of the Bible,  and many good books were rejected and burned,  along with their readers.  If you doubt this,  please do some research on your own,  starting with the First Council of Nicaea in the year 325 AD:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Council_of_Nicaea   This council was called a  “synod of blockheads”  by one of the observers.  It forcefully settled the basic conflicts of Christian doctrine,  and punished the losers,  the Arians,  which set the stage for choosing which books would be included in the Bible,  and which books would be banned and burned.  These decisions took place at other later councils.  Even after all these deadly doctrinal battles,  we ended up with an amazingly good collection of books in the Bible.  Then,  after reading those books,  with their obvious agenda,  some interpretations of the Bible’s teachings make sense,  in accordance with logic and morality,  and some do not.  The destruction of the Knights Templar in 1307 illustrates this point with blood and fire,  and the Knights Templar were in desperate need of  God’s protection:  http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/dominicselwood/100263362/a-stain-on-history-the-burning-of-jacques-de-molay-grand-master-of-the-mysterious-knights-templar-700-years-ago-today/   Jesus himself condemned the interpretations and conduct of the Pharisees and Saducees,  who were recognized as leaders of the Jewish religion.  Jesus himself blinded Saul the Pharisee on the road to Damascus.  Most of the current leaders of the Christian religion should be challenged as well,  for their teachings are just as faulty as the Pharisees.

Christians,  and followers of all other orthodox religions,  should begin to realize that the doctrines that they hold dear have been carefully crafted to follow a certain agenda of domination,  by religious leaders similar to the Biblical  “Pharisees”,  who were far from wise,  who may have been what we now call narcissists,  who were interested primarily in the domination of believers and ensuring that those believers contributed plenty of their hard-earned money to support the church;  an agenda that is not completely in their own best interests.  While crafting those doctrines,  those leaders suppressed and destroyed writings which held truths that were perhaps more important than the writings they allowed to survive.

There are ancient books that were kept out of the Old Testament,  such as the Book of Enoch,  which contain fascinating accounts of God’s relationship to man.  In the Old Testament,  there are actual references to other banned books such as The Book of Jasher and the Book of the Wars of the Lord as sources,  yet those referenced source books were banned.  There were books written about Jesus,  such as the Gospels of Thomas and Philip,  his disciples,  the Gospel of Mary,  the Gospel of Nicodemus,  the Jesus Infancy Gospel,  and the Epistles of Jesus Christ and Abgarus,  which were banned because they called the accepted doctrines into question.  Some writings reported that Jesus was married and had children.  Some writings included teachings of reincarnation.  Because these writings were banned,  hunted and destroyed,  many of them survived only as fragments and partial pages.  Even after all the censoring,  deleting,  banning,  and burning, we are discovering and re-constructing these writings.

After all the censoring and deleting and banning,  not to mention difficulties with interpreting from one language to another to yet another,  what is presented in the Bible is best studied with great care and some skepticism.  President Thomas Jefferson studied the New Testament and possibly other writings about Jesus,  and offered this opinion to John Adams in a letter in 1814:  “In the New Testament there is internal evidence that parts of it have proceeded from an extraordinary man;  and that other parts are of the fabric of very inferior minds.  It is as easy to separate those parts,  as it is to pick out diamonds from dunghills.”  I do not know what criteria Jefferson was using to  “separate those parts”,  but Jefferson was a great man,  a great intellect,  and a great spirit,  and I think he was right about this.  The Bible has been tampered with,  by many people with different agendas over thousands of years,  and it contains both treasure and trash,  diamonds and dunghills,  and it is up to the reader to separate the parts.  Do you,  like President Jefferson,  think that it is  “easy to separate those parts”?  I do not think so,  I think it is almost impossible,  but still,  we must try.  Our very survival,  and the survival of our family,  may depend on it.

Even with all the censoring and book-burning that produced the Bible,  there are indications in the Bible about God’s true position on  “free will”,  and also about his possible limitations.  For example,  in Genesis 8 and 9,  after the great Flood,  God is giving Noah instructions concerning the new covenant between God and man.  He is telling Noah how humanity is to conduct itself,  to live a more righteous way.  In Genesis 9:6,  God told Noah  “Whoso sheddeth man’s blood,  by man shall his blood be shed;  for in the image of God made he man.”  This seems to me to be a crucial verse,  concerning the relationship between God and humanity,  at the crucial time of a new beginning.  Why would God assign to humanity such a difficult and dangerous task,  the stopping and punishment of violent criminals and murderers?  Maybe God assigned humanity to police itself,  concerning violent criminals and murderers,  because HE CANNOT DO IT HIMSELF,  because of some metaphysical limitation that He does not wish to reveal to us.  So He gave us a stern law,  for us to stop violent criminals and murderers for ourselves,  to shed their blood,  so that we would feel empowered and justified to do so.  How could it be that God could cause a great Flood to wipe out most of humanity,  which had become a race of murderers,  and yet not be able to stop a single murderer?  Perhaps God did not directly cause the Flood,  but long ago set the system in motion that resulted in a Flood.  When a huge flood became imminent,  and God knew it was coming,  He took steps to preserve the seeds of human and animal life,  so that they could recover after the Flood.  We do not know,  but this is one possible scenario,  among others.

In that scenario,  it could well be,  that God has created a vast and intricate system of physical matter,  energy and life,  with natural laws of interaction between the components.  Like inquisitive children,  we are learning more and more about this system and its natural laws.  It has been a long and painful process,  full of mistakes,  but today the search is extending our knowledge through amazing technological advances as well as spiritual advances.  In every possible way,  we are extending our vision on this planet,  and out to the other planets and stars and galaxies,  and into the spiritual realm as well.  We are slowly discovering that matter,  energy,  and life interact in certain ways,  with certain requirements that we call  “laws”  of science.  The animating ingredient is life energy,  a miraculous force which we cannot produce for ourselves,  which actually defies some of the  “laws”  of science.  Actually,  we are slowly discovering the  “laws”  of God,  and the parameters and limits set by God,  for us and for himself.  It could well be,  that when this system was started by God,  who breathed life energy into it,  it acquired a  “life”  of its own,  as a dynamic changing universe,  and began a unique sequence of interactions that built one upon the other,  that produced the incredible world and universe we live in now,  with all its goods and evils,  and it cannot be altered without destroying the entire system and starting over.  It could well be,  that God must let the system play out mostly on its own,  and does not cause specific floods or earthquakes or wars or other great disasters to happen,  but has foreknowledge of their coming,  and gives us instructions,  and deploys his spiritual forces and allies to try to accomplish the best result for His will and His morality to prevail.  But for some mysterious reason,  by some limitation of the system,  by some inherent rigidity or momentum,  they cannot directly intervene for most people,  when things go terribly wrong.  It could well be,  that God cannot stop a tornado or earthquake,  that God cannot stop an evil man from killing you or me,  without destroying the current system and starting over.

In such a scenario,  “free will”  becomes a secondary element,  subject to the rules and limitations of the current system set up by God.  The free reign or  “free will”  of evil becomes an unfortunate result or allowance of that system.  It is similar to the way that harmful bacteria and viruses can invade and destroy an otherwise healthy human body.  The  “free will”  of the harmful disease organisms destroy the  “free will”  of the healthy cells,  and often destroy the  “free will”  of the larger human body,  by crippling it or killing it.  This destruction can escalate into an epidemic,  killing thousands,  as in the current  Ebola epidemic.  This often happens right in front of the doctor,  with the doctor doing all he can to prevent it,  but he cannot defeat the  “free will”  of the disease,  without killing the human body that is its host.  For example,  the doctor could burn the human body,  incinerating it to ashes,  to destroy the disease organisms in that body,  but this would not be agreeable to the soul occupying that body at the time.  So he tries remedies and gives the patient instructions,  only to see the patient die anyway.  Some patients he is able to save,  but many die,  as victims of the  “free will”  of tiny disease organisms.  The limitations of the doctor may be similar to the plight of God,  concerning  “free will”  and the fight against evil people and injustice in the world.  In the Bible,  we have a powerful story concerning this very dilemma.  To heal a morally sick humanity,  God already tried or allowed massive destruction of the  “disease organisms”  with a Flood,  and then vowed he would never do that again,  or never allow it again.

But apart from that theory,  here is another point for the theologians to ponder,  concerning  “free will”  and its supposed supreme importance.  In the Flood,  God obviously had no concern for the  “free will”  of the human race,  which he was destroying  (in their doctrine),  except for one family.  Even that one family had to suspend their  “free will”  and do as God commanded them,  or die.  After the Flood,  in Genesis 9:6,  God certainly had no concern for the  “free will”  of violent criminals and murderers,  now did he?  No, he did not,  for he told us to shed their blood.  So,  consistently,  both before and after a monumental event in the God-human relationship,  God had no regard for the  “free will”  of murderers,  and commanded us to stop them,  to deal harshly with them,  to shed their blood.  And as a reason,  he offered  “for in the image of God made he man.”  This may mean that when a murderer kills a man or woman,  he is killing the image of God,  and by doing so,  he himself is no longer in the image of God,  and his fellow humans who are still in the image of God have the permission,  the obligation,  the command to stop him,  and then to punish him.

Proof of Heaven book coverMap of Heaven book coverDr. Eben Alexander,  in his two books  Proof of Heaven (2012)  and  The Map of Heaven (2014),  along with many other spiritual writers,  argue that the physical world and human society is but a dim reflection of the metaphysical,  that the afterlife is a much brighter, more vibrant,  more energetic place than the physical Earth.  The afterlife is described as  “more real”  than this life,  with intense natural beauty of trees,  meadows,  flowers,  streams,  waterfalls,  butterflies,  and everyone content and happy.  And there is no mention of crime or evil in their afterlife reports.  Somehow,  justice has been achieved in the afterlife,  so we know that it can be done.  But we are deprived of it here.  Justice should not be reserved for the dead.  We,  the living,  with bodies that bleed and souls that suffer,  desperately need justice here and now,  on the physical Earth in the human realm.  Dr. Alexander writes  “as above,  so below”.  He intended this only in regards to Love and Knowledge,  which is all his new spiritual tunnel vision sees,  but he should see that it also applies to that third crucial component of goodness,  called Justice.  This is his  “blind spot”,  which is also the  “blind spot”  of all the popular spiritualist writers,  whose material I have seen.

Sadly,  it is also the  “blind spot”  or the  “Achille’s Heel” of the Bible,  the Torah,  the Hindu and Buddhist scriptures…..  all the words in the holy books concerning justice,  and concerning God’s responsibility and capability for justice.  All those holy volumes of words have no actions in the world today to back them up.

Instead,  believers grasp at small coincidences in their lives,  and call them miracles.  Spiritual writers have made the word  “synchronicity”  popular now,  which means a happy coincidence in one’s life…..  a chance meeting of someone significant,  or an unexpected gift,  or a near-miss of an accident…..  a coincidence that is taken to be evidence of spiritual influence.  I have had many happy coincidences and near-misses in my own life,  and I am very grateful if there IS any spiritual influence involved,  even as weak as it may be.  But in the big picture,  in the struggle against injustice,  synchronicity is very very weak,  having no real effect.  Synchronicity is praised and celebrated and pointed to as great evidence of God’s hand in our lives,  while the news is still full of evil people slaughtering good people,  who needed something a little stronger than  “synchronicity”  to protect them from death,  or from life-ruining injuries,  at the hands of evil people.  Synchronicity might be enough to aid the advance of fairness and social justice in some arenas,  but it has proven to be far too weak to stop the advance of destruction carried out by evil men in the world.

Evil has too much power in this world,  and God seems to have too little.  I am protesting that God should be able to do more for justice.  But this may be an illusion of our own making.  I fear that God has been misunderstood,  misinterpreted,  and over-rated by every religion in history.  He is powerful in many ways,  just not omnipotent,  as all religions may have mis-represented Him.  In this and other subjects,  religious doctrine is not to be trusted.

I reason that God,  while limited is some ways,  is extremely powerful,  far beyond anything we can understand,  and I trust that he uses his power for the accomplishment of goodness,  which we can understand,  with the intelligence he has already given us.  But I am extremely disturbed by a vexing puzzle of moral and logical elements.   It is a great paradox that God fails to use the awesome power that he has,  to protect the people who are trying to follow his guidance with all their heart,  mind and soul.  If God is omnipotent,  this failure becomes impossible to understand,  from any logical or moral viewpoint.  But religious doctrine demands that we suspend logic and morality,  and just believe that God loves us while he allows other people to destroy us.

Even if God is not omnipotent,  but simply the most powerful being in the universe,  that premise is disturbing as well.  Whatever potency God may have,  is being withheld from the struggle for justice on this Earth every day.  This is the disturbing puzzle that I seek to solve.  It seems to be a self-imposed withholding,  and this seems to be a form of negligence,  which should be ended.  We deserve better,  as a species and as individuals.  We humans are not cursed or fallen,  as orthodox Christianity has branded us.  Christian doctrine places God on a pedestal of perfection,  and throws humans in the garbage pit,  as damaged goods,  who were thrown out of paradise and cursed forever because of our sinful nature,  and that is wrong,  but that is another discussion.  In any case,  we have waited 2000 years for the justice and protection that was promised in the New Testament,  and that should be long enough.  Every day,  more Christians are being persecuted,  tortured,  raped and beheaded for their steadfast faith in Christ.

How many people must an evil man kill,  before God or angels are moved to stop him?  Sadly,  there has never been a limit to the number of bodies,  and that needs to change.  The planet Earth should not be the devil’s playground for torture and death,  but that is what our metaphysical superiors have allowed it to be,  for thousands of years.  This is not just faulty human perception,  it is the ugly reality of human history.  Something is dreadfully wrong with this system,  this program,  this set of rules,  and it needs some adjustments.

We,  who live in the physical world with physical bodies that break and bleed,  need a more “hands-on” approach to justice from our metaphysical superiors, who call themselves good.  We don’t need all our enemies wiped out,  as in the days of the Old Testament.  We don’t need a Great Flood,  or other great disaster,  for that was extreme overkill.  But when an evil man gains such irresistible power that he can slaughter dozens,  or hundreds,  or thousands,  or millions of people,  and when he has started on such a career,  then he should be stopped,  pure and simple,  and that is when we need metaphysical intervention.  The more power the evil man gains,  the higher the pile of dead bodies the evil man produces,  and  the harder it is for good men to stop him.  That is when we most need the help of God,  who should know what this man will do if not stopped…..  hopefully while the pile of bodies is still quite small,  perhaps in the dozens or hundreds,  instead of thousands or millions.

Short of that sensible measure,  if the most evil men are not stopped,  then at least some victims…..  the good,  the moral,  the innocent,  the believers,  the faithful,  the elect….. whatever you want to call them….. could be protected from the evil men.  In fact,  that has been promised many times,  and here is a collection of such promises from the Bible:

Promises,  Promises,  Promises …..

The Beheading of the Apostle Paul

Here is just one of many promises in the Bible,  that indicate the many persecutions of Christians should not be happening:  “But the Lord is faithful and will give you strength and will protect you from the Evil One.”  (2 Thessalonians 3:3)  Evil is running rampant today,  and for the past 2000 years.   So where is the protection?  The apostle Paul,  who was first named Saul,  who wrote these words,  tells us of his persecutions in other writings:  “five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one,  three times was beaten with rods,  once I was pelted with stones”.  Finally,  Paul was beheaded by the evil Roman Emperor Nero.  Where was his protection from that Evil One?  Nero may not have been THE  “Evil One”,  but he was definitely major league Evil.

Here is another from Jesus himself:  “And shall not God avenge his own elect,  which cry day and night unto him,  though he bear long with them?  I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.”  (Luke 18:7-8)   When will this happen?  How many thousands of years must we bear the onslaught of evil?  Also,  the Apostle Paul mentioned above was certainly one of God’s own elect,  if anyone was,  and he was not protected from torture and murder.

But ironically,  others were protected from him. I don’t think he saw the great irony between the start and end of his own Christian career.  His birth name was Saul,  he was an elite Jew,  an arrogant bigoted Jew,  and when he began attacking Christians,  he became known as Saul of Tarsus.  Yet Saul of Tarsus was personally chosen or  “elected”  by Jesus to be a possible apostle,  and was the target of a metaphysical attack by Jesus,  while he was traveling on the road to Damascus.  Suddenly a  “light from heaven”  shined around him and he fell to the ground,  and heard a voice saying  “Saul,  Saul,  why do you persecute me?”  Saul asked  “Who are you,  Lord?”,  and the voice answered  “I am Jesus who you persecute:  it is hard for you to kick against the pricks.”  Saul asked  “Lord, what will you have me do?”  Jesus said  “Arise, and go into the city,  and it shall be told you what you must do.”  Saul obeyed,  but he remained blind for three days.  Then Jesus sent a disciple named Ananias to restore Saul’s vision,  and Saul immediately began preaching for Jesus in the Jewish synagogues.  All this is recorded in The Acts,  Chapter 9.

The Jews were shocked,  because Saul was a high-ranking Jewish Pharisee,  who hated Christians and was traveling to different cities to arrest them or kill them.  Saul was blinded by Jesus,  early in his career,  to get him to stop murdering Christians.  The attempt succeeded,  Saul chose to change his life,  and the transition from evil to good was so extreme,  that he even changed his name  from Saul to Paul.  Here is one singular example of God or Jesus using metaphysical power to stop an evil man from murdering Christians,  and as a bonus the evil man changed sides,  and changed his name,  and became the greatest apostle of all….. saving lives instead of taking lives!  But the same protection that was given to others,  by blinding him,  was not given to him when he was persecuted and finally beheaded.  There is no doubt that he deserved protection,  and the withholding of protection could be seen as a betrayal of all the promises I am listing here.

This once-evil man Saul,  renamed as Paul,  wrote many books and letters,  some of which were incorporated into the Bible, possibly 14 of the 27 books of the New Testament.  His prolific writings and travels gave much moral support to the early struggling Christian churches,  which may not have survived without it.  It has also helped the moral and spiritual development of countless people for about 2000 years,  including myself.  This would not have happened if Jesus had not reached out with metaphysical power,  and blinded Saul on the road to Damascus,  en route to arrest more Christians.  If Jesus had not blinded Saul and spoken to him,  if Jesus had allowed Saul to continue his campaign of oppressing and murdering Christians,  then Saul would have just been one more evil murderer,  a somewhat petty one,  and we would never have heard of him.  Instead,  look at the bounty of goodness that came from the metaphysical stopping of just one evil man Saul, who became known as Paul the Apostle.  But never mind Paul’s prolific writing after his metaphysical encounter,  and never mind the doctrinal disagreements people have with him.  My main point is that an evil man,  following an active career of oppressing and murdering people,  was stopped and all his future victims were saved,  by a metaphysical intervention.

This is my best evidence,  my best argument,  given to me by Jesus himself.  Here is the model for justice on Earth.  It is the model for keeping all these promises of protection we find in the Bible.  Here is the best indication that what I pray for can be done,  was done,  and should be done again.  Just imagine the spectacular impact on the world,  if the leaders of every terrorist organization in the world,  regardless of religion,  were suddenly blinded,  and remained blinded until they had a change of heart.  This was done to Paul,  it turned him from evil,  and we need it done again.

In The Lord’s Prayer,  Jesus taught us to pray for God to  “deliver us from evil”. (Matthew 6:13)  But many millions of Christians have been destroyed by evil,  not delivered from it,  with their prayers for protection ineffective.  Why would Jesus have them pray for something that would not be provided?  Did he consider a believer being murdered to be a deliverance from evil?  If so,  it is a cruel play on words,  that actually surrenders our physical lives and the entire physical world to evil.  I do not think that was his intent.

Here is one more from Jesus,  when 70 apostles returned from to him from the preaching mission he had sent them on:  “And the seventy returned again with joy,  saying,  Lord,  even the devils are subject to us through your name.  And he said unto them,  I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.  Behold,  I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions,  and over all the power of the enemy:  and nothing shall be any means hurt you.”  (Luke 10:17-19)   This kind of power and protection has been needed by countless believers witnessing for Jesus in dangerous parts of the world,  for the past 2000 years,  but they have been jailed,  tortured,  or killed as martyrs.

Here is one from the Old Testament,  that should apply to both Jews and Christians: “The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm”  (Proverbs 19:23).  Here is another one from Proverbs 30:5-  “Every word of God is true.  He guards those who come to him for safety.”  But good Jews have been persecuted horribly ever since King Solomon wrote that book of Proverbs,  since his death signaled the end of the glory of Israel.

Here is an astonishing pledge from God,  of invincibility for believers:  “No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed,  and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment.  This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me,  declares the Lord”  (Isaiah 54:17).  The Christians and Jews being slandered and slaughtered in the Middle East today,  and for the last 2000 years,  are proof that this pledge is not being kept.

Here is one from Psalms,  the book written by King David,  Solomon’s father:  “For he will command his angels concerning you,  to guard you in all your ways”  (Psalms 91:11).  I do believe in guardian angels,  but they have allowed millions of good Christians and Jews to be horribly killed.  If the angels are guarding,  they are doing a terrible job.

Psalms 91 is an entire psalm of protection, with other promises such as:  “He (God) will rescue you from every trap and protect your from deadly disease”,  “His faithful promises are your armor and protection”,  “Do not dread the disease that stalks in the darkness,  nor the disaster that strikes at midday”,  “Though a thousand fall at your side,  though ten thousand are dying around you,  these evils will not touch you”,  “If you make the Lord your refuge,  if you the Most High your shelter,  no evil will conquer you,  no plague will come near your home”,  “For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go;  they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone”,  “The Lord says,  ‘I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me,  I will answer;  I will be with them in trouble.  I will rescue and honor them.  I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”

Here is another from Psalms 138:7,  “Though I walk in the midst of trouble,  you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies,  and your right hand delivers me.”

Here is one that is even more specific:  “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face;  they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.”  (Deuteronomy 28:7).

Here is one that is more general,  for “times of trouble”,  not just about saving lives or defeating enemies:  “God is our protection and our strength.  He always helps in times of trouble.”  (Psalms 46:1).  Please note the word ‘always’,  meaning each and every time,  for those who qualify for such divine help.  Since that time,  surely millions have qualified,  and millions have died,  not receiving said help.

Here is another that is more specific about traps and diseases:  “Those who go to God Most High for safety will be protected by the Almighty.  I will say to the Lord,  ‘You are my place of safety and protection.  You are my God and I trust you.’  God will save you from hidden traps and from deadly diseases.”  The Christian victims of the bubonic plague called the Black Death,  which killed about one-third of the population of Europe in the the 1400’s,  needed God to keep this promise.

The Book of Proverbs is full of true wisdom,  but here is a broad statement that misses the mark:  “No harm comes to a good person,  but an evil person’s life is full of trouble.”  (Proverbs 12:21).  This is not couched as a promise from God,  but it is an overly optimistic presumption based on God’s promises,  that is way off-base and inaccurate.  Plenty of harm comes to good people….. always has,  always will….. the harm usually comes from evil people,  and God usually does nothing to stop it.

Getting back to the words of Jesus,  we have Matthew 21:22 saying  “If you believe, you will get anything you ask for in prayer”,  and  John 15:7 saying  “If you remain in me and follow my teachings,  you can ask anything you want,  and it will be given to you”,  and  John 16:23 saying  “Whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name,  he will give it to you.”  But since the time of Jesus,  I am sure that countless Christians,  being destroyed by torture and slaughter,  have cried out to God and Jesus to save them or their loved ones from destruction,  and it did not work.  The granting of life and justice was not given.

These promises,  taken all together,  clearly pledge for God and his angels to protect his followers from all evil and all harm,  whether from spiritual attackers or human attackers.  It is high time for these promises of protection and assurances of faith to be kept and honored by God.  Christians and Jews everywhere should raise protests to God and Jesus,  to remind them of their promises.  Christians and Jews are being murdered in many countries because of their faith,  and they are not being protected.  Like the Hebrews groaning under slavery in ancient Egypt,  Christians should cry out to God to protect their brothers and sisters in Christ,  and avenge them speedily,  as promised above.  It worked for the Hebrews,  and they were rescued from Egyptian slavery in the Exodus of the Bible.  But it took generations of crying and praying before God heard their  “groaning”  and  “remembered”  his covenant with them  (Exodus 2:23-25),  before God “speedily” avenged them in the Exodus.  Perhaps Christians are not  “groaning”  to God enough,  but they should be.  Good Christians have been under attack for 2000 years,  ever since the birth of Jesus himself.  Today,  Christianity is under attack in almost every country in the world,  including America,  although Christians are not being beheaded or crucified or buried alive here, as they are in Iraq….. yet.  The attack here is more political and philosophical,  but it is just as wrong.  Persecution is wrong in any form,  whether it produces dead bodies,  or merely restricts freedoms.  And regardless of our relative security and comfort in America,  all Christians and Jews in America should be praying for God’s justice to protect the Christians and Jews under vicious attack in the rest of the world.

Most Christians take comfort and encouragement from the promises above.  I do not.  I see the glaring difference between the promises and the reality.  So to me,  these promises are troubling,  giving me infinite grief and sadness:

A grieving and sadness that is just as infinite as the constant march of injustice in human history;  just as infinite as the number of human victims of abuse,  crime,  war,  and tyranny.

These promises,  and the breaking of them,  drive a wedge between the relationships of human and spirit,  just as the continual breaking of promises drives a wedge between humans.  I have studied the history of religions,  and I have no doubt that many millions of good Christians,  and good people of all other religions,  deserved this promised protection,  but did not receive it.  Instead,  they died agonizing deaths,  either quick or slow,  at the hands of evil men.  Usually their families were also killed or punished,  and their property was taken.  This is happening right now,  all over the Middle East.  Go read all these promises to the surviving victims of ISIS,  especially the Christians,  and see what their reaction might be.  I doubt that they will rejoice.  I doubt that they will be comforted,  for they have just witnessed the brutal breaking of those promises.  They have just witnessed their loved ones being tortured and murdered in horrible ways;  they have just lost all their possessions and tools and means of making a living;  they have just had their own lives completely ruined;  all for their love of Christ.

In James 2:17, we are told:  “Thus also faith by itself,  if it does not have works,  is dead.”  So if our faith in God is dead or worthless,  without works or deeds to demonstrate it,  what about God’s faith in us?  When he fails to protect his followers as he promised,  God’s faith or love is dead or worthless also.  We need the “works” of God’s justice to protect us,  when we are about to be devoured by the wolves of evil,  in the form of criminals, murderers and tyrants.

Mind you,  I am not suggesting that we be angry at God  (or Jesus)  for not keeping his promises.  I am not angry at God,  but I want to know Him better.  We know so little about God,  and these promises may be wishful thinking by writers of the Bible.  Don’t rage against God… don’t rage against goodness… for logically God is doing all He can to promote goodness and enforce justice, and logically He has been doing that for billions of years,  before the human race even existed.  He may have limits to his powers,  that we do not understand.  I personally think that must be the case.  If that is the case,  then God needs our help more than we have imagined,  in the conflict against forces of evil.  Rather than be angry at God for his limitations,  we should be good and faithful servants,  who help Him any way we can.  But if He had anything to do with the Biblical promises of protection quoted above,  then it might be to our benefit to remind Him and remind us of those promises,  and clearly ask that they now be kept.  Biblical stories indicate that God can be argued with,  bargained with,  persuaded.  Abraham did it concerning the destruction of Sodom,  the enslaved Hebrews in Egypt did it,  Moses did it,  the early Israelites did it when they insisted that God give them a King to rule them.  So let us persuade God now,  to give his followers the protection,  the justice,  that the Bible promises many times.

While it may be possible to petition and persuade God,  it is a great foolishness to criticize or condemn God,  when we do not really know who or what God really is,  or what his powers really are.  But it is a great wisdom,  to criticize the various human concepts of God.  That is what I am trying to do here.  No one religion has all the right answers,  and no one ideology has all the best ideas.

My own concept of God is under construction,  and it may remain that way forever,  but it is certainly open to comment or criticism by anyone reading these words.  I would appreciate any constructive comments.

Jesus With A Whip… We Need Him Again

Even if Jesus with a whip is all that the Creator can give us,  we can work with that.  But this time,  no need for the messy business of physical incarnation,  picking out a mother,  pregnancy,  birth,  growing up,  etc.  We just need to borrow him for a few hours,  with his full spiritual power and with his whip,  focused on our worst problems here on the Earth.  Then he can go back to managing the metaphysical affairs of the universe.  No need to announce the Second Coming of Christ,  or the vanquishing of Satan,  or any such grandiose hoopla.  Just kindly ask him to dust off his whip,  and pay us a little visit.  To disturb the least number of people,  but have the greatest effect,  I would suggest that he visit at night,  and pick his subjects very carefully.  We only get to borrow him for a few hours,  so there is no time for money-changers,  although God knows there are a lot more of those these days.  Jesus knows who has been nice and who has been the most naughty,  so picking the most effective targets would be no problem for him.

Can you imagine Jesus returning tonight,  as darkness rolls across the globe,  with a whip in his hand,  to make a quick tour of the world?  Whose backs would he sting with his whip?   Would he visit North Korea,  Iran,  Iraq,  Afghanistan,  Syria,  Cuba,  China,  Vietnam,  Burma,  Israel,  Palestine,  Russia or America?  He should visit all those countries,  and many more.  Every country would deserve a visit.  I can only imagine the news headline and the story:

“MYSTERIOUS MAN APPEARS IN BEDROOMS OF WORLD LEADERS,  LASHES THEM WITH A WHIP,  THEN DISAPPEARS–  A bearded man in a white robe,  armed with a whip,  claiming to be sent from God,  appeared in hundreds of bedrooms last night,  uncurled his whip and let it fly.  These were not just any bedrooms,  but the bedrooms of world leaders,  while they were asleep.  How this man gained entry to the bedrooms,  past formidable security measures and guards,  is a baffling mystery.  Security chiefs have stated that it is not even possible for one man to travel to all these countries in one night,  so it must have been many different men in a coordinated attack,  and this is the subject of investigation.  A few leaders are speaking out,  accusing a conspiracy masterminded by the Christian Freemasons,  the Muslim Brotherhood,  or the CIA.  Some were accusing the Catholic Church,  until it was disclosed by the Vatican that the Pope and a senior cardinal were among those attacked.  But most of the leaders are not offering any opinion of their attacker,  and keeping their comments to a minimum,  until further investigation.  The sequence of attacks across the globe is being sorted out,  and security videos covering entries and hallways are being carefully reviewed.  There were security cameras in a few of the bedrooms,  but those cameras malfunctioned.  So far,  with perhaps over a hundred different attackers involved,  no suspects have been found.”

“But in all reports given by the attacked world leaders,  the intruder looked and sounded the same.  He wore a pure white robe with a purple sash,  simple sandals, and carried a whip woven from a shiny fiber or rope that seemed to glisten.  The white robe also seemed to glisten or glow faintly in the dark,  as did the man’s face.  Some leaders thought they glimpsed scars or marks on his hands and feet.  The stern words he woke the leaders with were the same each time,  in the leader’s own language:  ‘You are a wolf among my sheep,  and this is your first warning from God’.  If they were not fully awake then,  they were jolted awake by the first lash of the whip……  the bearded man delivered seven quick stinging lashes,  repeated his words even more sternly,  turned and vanished in a blinding flash of light,  all this in about 30 seconds…..  in some cases,  even while being lashed,  his victim was able to pull a pistol from the bedside and fire,  but the shots had no apparent effect,  other than to give the victim severely ringing ears,  except in one case the bullets passed through the door and killed a guard trying to get in…..  Early reactions varied widely among the leaders,  but when it became known that almost ALL heads of state were visited,  they were shocked,  and some had to retract their accusations of other countries,  whose presidents were also attacked.  As mentioned above,  some have begun to accuse fringe religious groups,  but for all nations  this is becoming an urgent global security issue…..  some leaders are warning that,  if they can be whipped in their beds at night,  with the best security measures,  then no one in the world is safe from these terrorists…..  ”

So the news story might go.  I would be delighted to wake up tomorrow and see this story plastered everywhere,  wouldn’t you?  But those last leaders quoted would be completely missing the point.  The “intruder” was no terrorist….. quite the opposite….. the corrupt leader himself is the merchant of terror.  Everyone else in the world would be MORE safe,  precisely because they,  the corrupt leaders,  are NO LONGER safe.  The leaders might continue to rant and rave about terrorists,  but in their hearts they would know that THEY have been tagged as a true terrorist,  by the sting of a glistening whip,  wielded by a man who was obviously more than just a man,  who was obviously their superior in every way.

The corrupt leaders would no longer be free to lawlessly kill,  abuse,  and oppress millions of victims,  with no consequences to themselves. They could no longer act like little gods…..  The sting of the whip would tell them they must follow the Laws of the real God,  or they will be punished.  The much-vaunted “rule of law” would be enforced on world leaders by God, for He is the only one able to enforce it on them,  and He would finally be living up to His divine responsibility.  The great moral law….. that great power brings great moral responsibility to do goodness and defeat evil….. would finally be restored and enforced on Earth.  Those leaders with great power,  who abuse that power–  who use it to steal,  oppress,  torture,  and destroy–  would be stopped and punished.  This moral concept is agonizingly simple and universal in its reach.  What could be more reasonable,  more just?  It is the justice a child can recognize, and it is the justice we all yearn for,  when we see or hear of such oppression,  or when we are its victims.

Jesus’ visit to the bedrooms of world leaders would cause quite a stir.  Wouldn’t it be great fun?  Everyone would be laughing at the deflated leaders and their defeated security chiefs,  and cheering for the  “intruder”.  The  “intruder”  would gain a name very quickly,  and that name would be Jesus  (although the stubborn few might insist that it was Mohammed or “the Twelfth Imam”).  If such a thing were to happen,  the political landscape of the world would change the very next day,  most likely for the better.  It would do a lot more good than the whipping of a few corrupt money-changers in the temple 2000 years ago….. with no  “free will”  violated,  and no harm done,  except to the egos and thick skins of the world’s corrupt leaders.  For them,  and for the rest of us,  it would be the biggest  “wake-up call”  in history,  at a time in history when it is most sorely needed.

I could not find any graphics of Jesus whipping world leaders in their beds in the middle of the night,  so these will have to do….. at least some artists are thinking along similar lines…..  so you get the idea…..

jesus-whips-bankers boris-olshansky-jesus-and-the-money-changers-2006

A wake-up call like this,  or like my scenario,  would tell all the good people of the world that they truly,  without a doubt,  do have a metaphysical ally,  a powerful spiritual champion,  who will help protect them against abuse,  oppression,  and tyranny……  just as has been promised many times.  It would happen at a time when new tyrannies are springing up all over the world,  when old tyrannies are emboldened by this,  when good leaders are standing by and basically doing nothing.  The old saying is again being proven true:  “All that is required for the triumph of evil,  is for good men to do nothing.”  I would amend that to say  “….. for LEADERS of good men to do nothing.”  We desperately need help,  because our leaders are failing us.  Conservative leaders have failed us,  and liberal leaders have failed us.  Religious leaders have failed us,  and atheist leaders have failed us.  Democratic leaders have failed us,  and “benevolent dictators” have failed us.  All leaders have failed,  and Jesus with a whip,  confronting the leaders directly,  one-on-one,  would be the help that we urgently need.  It would be the help that has been promised.

The best time to do this might be Easter night.  It would add another chapter to the Easter story of resurrection.  Easter might gain a new meaning and a new purpose,  with a resurrected Jesus returning to act as a shepherd guarding his flock from the wolves.  His triumph against death and evil would be more complete.  In addition to celebrating his ascension to heaven 2000 years ago,  believers would celebrate his return as our guardian shepherd,  even if he never appeared that way again.

And who knows…..  if enough people included a request for such a visit in their prayers,  it might even be granted.  I have planted the seed here,  and if you like the idea,  help me plant the seed in more fertile ground,  by referring this blog to your friends.  It has been scientifically proven that the power of prayer works,  though this is not accepted by mainstream science.  But I ceased to care about  “mainstream”  long ago….. and I would love to influence people to pray for more justice to be brought into our world,  in whatever form God wills.

But I am partial to Jesus with a whip,  since that is the method he himself chose,  when he walked this Earth.  Jesus with a whip could change everything for the better,  perhaps saving humanity from its worst oppressors.  If any of them needed a second visit as a reminder,  I am sure that could be arranged,  too.  They could then receive forty lashes,  as Jesus likely suffered himself,  before his crucifixion.  Or he could be gracious,  giving them only another seven lashes.  If any of them needed a third visit,  more drastic measures would be in order,  such as killing them.  Or if that is too drastic for Christian pacifists,  how about paralyzing them, or striking them blind, deaf, and dumb.  It would be hard to tyrannize or order genocides,  if they cannot move, see, hear, or talk.  Jesus struck Paul blind in the New Testament,  on the road to Damascus,  for the paltry abuse of stoning a few Christians,  so there is a Christian precedent here.  Let’s have the same treatment for the evil dictators and tyrants of the world,  who deserve it a thousand times more than Paul did.  It can be done,  it was done,  and it should be done again!

The general call for spiritual justice is needed to counteract the false spiritual message  “There is nothing you can do wrong”.   I reported about this outrageous message in my last article about the recent best-seller book  “PROOF OF HEAVEN”,  which article can be found in the list of posts at above and right.

Face of Jesus painted by 8-year-old Akiane after spiritual visions

This is a portrait of Jesus,  painted by an amazing 8-year-old girl named Akiane Krimarik.  Her mother was an atheist,  but Akiane had spiritual visions and painted what she saw.  Her painting was confirmed by a 4-year-old boy who had a NDE,  named Colton Burpo,  subject of the current movie,  Heaven Is For Real.   Colton had commented that Jesus did not look like any of the pictures he saw in church,  but when he happened to see this portrait,  he said this is exactly what Jesus looked like when Jesus talked to him in his NDE.

To me,  this is a face that could shine in love,  or in justice.  We need both,  and the justice is long overdue.  I can imagine this face in Rembrandt’s painting above,  and it fits the scene even better than Rembrandt’s face of Jesus.  Give this face a stern look,  with light flashing from those blue-green eyes,  and put a whip in this man’s hand again,  and let him whip the world into a state of resurrected spiritual justice.  That is my wish and my prayer for Easter.

Afterword–  The whipping of the world’s corrupt leaders would be a noteworthy contribution to Justice,  but really,  it would be woefully inadequate.  Just look at the TV news,  about organized criminal gangs,  cartels,  mafias  in virtually every country,  the Muslim insurgencies in many countries including Boka Haram in Nigeria and Al Shabaab in Somalia,  the beheading of Buddhists by Muslims in Thailand,  the military coup by the Army in Thailand,  the rise of the monstrous group ISIS or ISIL in Iraq and Syria,  the seeking of Muslim Sharia law in democratic countries including America,  the corruption of US agencies such as the IRS,  the BLM,  the Veterans Administration,  the State Department,  the Justice Department,  and the White House itself.  Yet Obama proclaims to a Fox journalist that there is “not a smidgeon of corruption”  in the recent IRS scandal,  and denies any wrongdoing in any of the other scandals of his government.  One political criminal conceals and whitewashes the crimes of another political criminal.  It is a corrupt network of liberal / radical / progressive political crime,  and the liberal media looks the other way,  failing to recognize the crimes,  because they agree with the proclaimed philosophical ideals of the criminals.

It is kind of like the way Pontius Pilate  “washed his hands”  of the judgement of Jesus,  but deferred to the judgement of the Jewish priests and Pharisees,  and allowed his soldiers to flog,  torture,  and crucify Jesus,  after he had  “washed his hands”  of the entire affair,  and retired to his palace,  while Jesus was destroyed by his soldiers,  with his official Roman permission.  The liberal media is roughly the modern-day immoral equivalent of Pontius Pilate (with no soldiers,  but armed with cameras and keyboards),  the liberal / radical / progressive politicians are the immoral equivalent of the Jewish Pharisees,   Obama is the immoral equivalent of High Priest Caiaphas  (but with a Muslim flavor instead of Jewish),  and traditional moral values (and their spokesmen) are the equivalent of Jesus.  The liberal media fail to see liberal crimes and liberal lies against the Jesus-values,  just as Pilate failed to see the crimes of the High Priests against Jesus and the Jewish people;  they whitewash liberal mistakes and liberal hypocrisy at the highest levels of government.  When their gross negligence in reporting is called out,  they  “wash their hands”  of any responsibility,  distract us by throwing false accusations back at their accusers,  by reporting on every mistake of conservative leaders,  and then retire to their condos,  while Obama and the liberal politicians continue to destroy the moral values that made this country great.  The same thing is happening in many other countries,  to a greater or lesser extent.  Traditional morality and conservative values are on the hit list of every arrogant liberal / secular / atheist group or government in the world.  They are the ones who continue the effort of  “Killing Jesus”,  to borrow the title of the best-selling book.

Look at the secular / atheist attacks on anything in public of a Christian origin,  such as prayer is schools,  the oath  “so help me God”  in our courts,  any public display of the Ten Commandments or the Cross,  the slogan  “In God We Trust”  on our money,  the Christmas displays of the Nativity scene…..  even the traditional greeting  “Merry Christmas”.  Look at the vicious liberal attacks on the Boy Scouts,  and any other organization that tries to spread religious values and discourage homosexuality.  All of these crucial components of our Christian culture and heritage are being attacked and destroyed.  In other countries,  religious persecution is much worse,  especially those with Communist and Muslim governments.  Communists are atheist and persecute all religions,  while Muslims condemn and attack all other religions.  But in America,  there is no excuse for attacking home-grown Christian culture and values,  while promoting and accommodating foreign religious culture and values brought in by immigrants.  This is a uniquely American approach to self-destruction.

The whipping of the world’s corrupt leaders would not stop these wrong-headed attacks on the components of Christian culture.  As I have speculated above in my fictitious news story,  the secular / atheist people of the world would attribute the whippings to terrorists,  not to God.  The whipping of the world’s corrupt leaders would not touch the activities of most of the world’s terrorists and criminals,  who are outside the sanction of even the corrupt leaders.  They would laugh at the whippings of the leaders,  but keep on doing what they are doing.  They might even rationalize that since they did not get whipped,  then whatever evil they are doing is fine.  Never mind that this excuse would be completely irrational.

When you add to this the number of murders,  rapes,  thefts,  abuse,  deceptions  and other common crimes every day,  in every society,  every neighborhood on Earth,  then you must realize that we have no effective help.  The only justice we have,  is the justice we make and take for ourselves,  standing up for our own rights and moral values and freedoms,  with little or no help from any metaphysical sources.  The Bible makes many promises that God will protect those who believe in Him,  but this is mere wishful thinking,  because those  “promises”  have been broken countless times in history.  God’s believers are constantly singled out for persecution or torture or death,  and they are not protected,  just as Jesus was not protected.  Those who torture and murder God’s believers richly deserve to be crucified themselves,  to experience the tortuous deaths they routinely deal out to others.  Many of the corrupt world leaders deserve this.  They are willfully violating many moral laws,  with arrogance and contempt….. therefore,  perhaps they should be made to experience the torture and pain that they unjustly inflict upon others, to better understand why they should not do that.  But we could be merciful and grant them a quick death,  to simply end their reign of terror over the innocent,  and to pay their debt to justice in this world.  Their proper judgement and punishment can be left to the spiritual realm.  In this Earthly realm,  we simply….. and urgently….. need their horrific crimes to be STOPPED.

So Jesus with a whip, visiting the corrupt leaders of the world,  would be a welcome contribution to justice on Earth.  It would be awesome,  it would be sensational,  but it would only be a modest beginning.  Evil, vice,  corruption,  and crime permeate every level of human society,  down to every town,  every office,  every family.  Injustice is the normal state of human affairs on all levels,  producing untold amounts of constant misery and suffering.  We are so used to it,  that it is hard to even imagine what life SHOULD be like.  That is not acceptable to me,  and it should not be acceptable to you.  I know what justice should look like,  and if you listen to your soul,  your soul will remember justice,  and you will know too.  Let us join in asking God to give our world justice,  true justice,  here and now,  with no more waiting,  no more putting it off,  no more suffering.  How is that to be accomplished?…..  I do not know,  but God should know.  The Creator of the universe should be able to handle such a request,  should he not?  I would guess that it would involve the limiting of  “free will”,  or the prompt punishment of individuals who severely abuse their  “free will”  to torture or murder others,  or the use of metaphysical power to prevent that abuse.  We will all recognize it when we see it,  and our souls will rejoice,  just as we would recognize and rejoice if Jesus returned with a whip to the Earth tonight.  That would be a good start,  in giving our world true justice.  Maybe he is just waiting for enough people to truly ask for it……

…… but in the meantime,  let us continue to work for it and speak for it ourselves,  with the guidance God has already given us.  Part of that guidance is recorded in Genesis 9:6,  which was discussed above.

Thanks for reading,

May your steps be long and your path be short up the hill,  for the sooner we find the next overlook,  the sooner we can see the lay of the land,  to correct our path and continue on.
